Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

Terrible review that. Brilliant glove work from JB.
He had to take it!

He didn't learned from his previous mistake but still a good innings by him

WOOOHOOO!

So pleased for Finn.

What a take from Butler!

I've seen funnier cricket matches.

So do I especially that Match in 2005 but for any hope of winning we need to score 70 more runs

He was the last recognised batsman, and with hot spot you never know, not all the edges show up all the time.

Well, okay. I didn't see the point of the review. In my experience of DRS last year, rarely has a goof up happened.

Hazlewood and Lyon are decent. Won't be surpsided if they set Eng 130-140 odd.

From a neutral perspective England having to chase 120 would be great viewing. Having said that the conditions do seem best for batting today. So England should really get anything upto 200 without too much of a fuss. But 120 would atleast give Aus a target to bowl at. Even 100 would be something.

Did anyone notice that Broad's first ball of this over was clocked at 96.6 mph. Mistake???

Most Likely outcome : Mistake

While ENG look to have this in the bag - I still think if somehow Australia could limp to a 140 run lead (60 more runs) it would give their bowlers a target to defend.

The questions have to start being asked though about the Australian batting line up - is it time to call in Shaun Marsh who seems on fire in the tour games, is their space for Hads as a batter only (like the role McCullum plays for NZ), is it time to call on Peter Siddle with all of his ashes test match experience in the bowling department.

Is there another twist in the saga of Shane Watson considering that a decade ago it looked like he'd never be called into the squad again as everytime he was he somehow found himself injured. What about Fawad is it time to unleash him onto the Poms considering the amount of turn we have seen on their wickets - a two spinner option?

Moeen really isn't a good enough bowler. If Lyth fails again, Ali has to go up to 1, Rashid and Woakes in for the next test.

100 run lead was the least Aus had to get to have any hope of making a match of it. They have that atleast. While I don't expect any miracles here, but were Aus to get one or two early wickets (Lyth and Bell not being in the greatest of form) and the score is 15/2, things could get interesting.

However with the lead still only 100 I will not deny that its too optimistic of me as a neutral to really expect this one to be a good match as of now. 30 runs + somehow from here now, then you never know.[DOUBLEPOST=1438341912][/DOUBLEPOST]

Agree on the first part.

Shaun Marsh has also been very inconsistent. Should be better than Voges though. I don't know why Burns was dropped. Haddin can't hold a candle to Starc with the bat at the moment. And, he's not in three leagues below McCullum. So let's drop that comparison.

Australia's bowling is fine. I don't think they're losing because of the bowling. No point dropping people just because you're losing. Just the potential for growth in their quicks is amazing and I don't think dropping Johnson is remotely possible. Lyon is a very under-rated bowler. I think he's the best off spinner in (all) conditions. Ashwin may be?

Watson is such an over rated test cricketer. He can't just get into the side as a batsman, and his bowling is very ordinary. Plus. looking at how fragile his body has been, will you pick a 23 year old Marsh or a 33/34 year old Watson? Fawad won't come in, in my opinion. Not an option.

Australia's worries are just batting. Apart from Warner and Smith, I don't know of any young Aussie batsman. Michael Clarke is done.

What target would make you nervous as an England fan? Batting conditions look good and with Broad back in form we bat deep so there doesn't seem anyway we can't win... But if it's 120+ and given Lyth's form we might be at least 1 down for nowt so there might just be squeaky bum time later.
