Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

@ Poker ace- I meant gig.[DOUBLEPOST=1438342143][/DOUBLEPOST]
What target would make you nervous as an England fan? Batting conditions look good and with Broad back in form we bat deep so there doesn't seem anyway we can't win... But if it's 120+ and given Lyth's form we might be at least 1 down for nowt so there might just be squeaky bum time later.

England's batting is long. While Australia can challenge with 130/140, since I'm supporting England, I'd get nervous beyond 210-220.

Any official word yet on how long Anderson is out for - heard it was the next 2?

If, and we all know how big an if that is, Aus bat out this session, (another 30 mins to go), then I think we will have a match on our hands. Its too much to be too specific about exact scores, but Aus have scored nearly 100 runs today so far, and another 20 or so and we are in for an all out Aussie assault in the 4th innings on England.

Cricket has been very poor from one of the two sides every test. So far, a disappointing ashes![DOUBLEPOST=1438342439][/DOUBLEPOST]

Looks like the best batting conditions of all days!

No official word as yet - definitely out of Trent Bridge, and no comment on Oval (although Broad was interviewed after chatting to Jimmy, and said that he was personally confident he would be back for it).

I doubt England will be wanting to give Australia any clues as to whether he will be in or out until the last possible moment.

Okay on a side note, a question for all. Ashes is by far the premium test series in the world. No series can compare, and I think the no. 1 test series in the world is a settled position. However apart from the Ashes, or rather after the Ashes, which series would you say is the second greatest test showdown in world.

I would have said Ind-Pak, but they dont happen enough, or atleast regularly enough to take the second spot. What next then, Aus-SA ... Aus-Ind Border Gavaskar Trophy ... ?

Okay 120 it is. 100 I felt was the least that Aus had to get, and 120 was the second target they just had to get. They have done that. Its the bare min., but atleast they have the bare min target to have a go at England.

I'd agree with those. Although maybe Ind vs Aus replacing number 5 in recent years.

^ I was about to say the same, but then again I thought its his list so he is entitled to choose how he ranks his series. So I just thanked him for replying. However since we are now discussing the rankings, I would also not really place Ind vs Pak that high, for the simple reason that Ind Pak series no longer happen regularly enough to actually be a slam on no. 2 series. If they like the Ashess happened every 2 years or so, I would have agreed with them as no. 2.

Personally I would say -

1. Ashes
2. Aus-SA
3. Ind-Aus
4. Ind-SA
5. Eng-SA

NZ don't feature here but the last NZ series vs England was one of the best series I have seen in a while to be honest.

Cook goes, the one Aus would have wanted, and what a delivery too. Superb bowling. The butterflies in the stomach start for England.[DOUBLEPOST=1438347106][/DOUBLEPOST]Bell in now, and this is a vital wicket. If Bell stays there for 20 balls he would have scored 20 runs and this Aus can't afford. They need him early.

I think that drop does it for Australia. They had to get Bell for he will score very quickly. With a low score to defend Aus can't afford that.
