Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

No Ashes test is a dead rubber mate. Ever.

Ask yourself, do you really, really, care about this test. As much as you did for the previous four. Surely not. You would like to win this too, but come on, this one doesn't rate as high as the previous four, with England having already won, and in fact with England having destroyed Australia to be honest.

I really really care therefore it isnt a dead rubber and your arguement is invalid

Err, I think you will find, Mr. Einstein, that a match being a 'dead rubber' doesn't depend on how much you 'care for it'. A match is a dead rubber if the outcome of that match doesn't affect the outcome of the series in any way. With England having already won the series, by definition this is a dead rubber, regardless of how much you care.

So regardless of whether the extent of your love and care for this match is at the level where you want to hold hands, or that you basically can't wait to jump into bed with it, this is a dead rubber.

But don't worry, don't let that affect your love and care for this match. Why don't you write a poem about it or something.

lol these two certainly care

We haven't destroyed Australia at all. Cardiff was close, Lords they battered us and thy are battering us here.

I'm delighted we have won the Ashes but I'm furious that we have thrown this Test away. I care enormously about every Test match England play, especially against Australia in an Ashes Test. Like I said, there are no dead rubbers in an Ashes test.

Be fair mate, you mentioned the word "care" first. Don't use a phrase you used to then argue about a reply.

ya one thing i would say is australia self exploded more than ENG destroying, batting on both sides have been scratchy bar root, rogers and warner.

Ah well okay ...

Care was not to show that it is a dead rubber. That this is a dead rubber is beyond doubt. Going by the book.

So the point was you would not care for a dead rubber.

However that you still care, doesn't mean its not a dead rubber.

All it means is that you care for a dead rubber. That this is a dead rubber, strictly going by the definition is not in doubt.

Just to add, if it was say 4-0, I would understand it was not a dead rubber, as you really wanted to make it 5-0. I would get that. At 3-1 though, there really is no point, whether it finishes 4-1 or 3-2, England was won a magnificient series regardless.

Well I see Richowebbo already replied so I'm not gonna add too much but yea you did use 'caring' to determine if it is a dead rubber

Also it was a joke, not everything on these forums is a start to an argument.

The point is Aus and ENG often take turns thrashing each other at homes the past decade so [the earlier decade involved Aus thrashing ENG all the time ], a dead rubber is part and parcel of ashes and you just enjoy it regardless.[DOUBLEPOST=1440179336][/DOUBLEPOST]

Yeah writing a poem about your care for match is meant to be taken seriously. Right Okay.

ALso I did reply explaining how 'care' doesn't define what is and what is not a dead rubber. So you can read that, unless you are already working on that poem, and are too busy.

1st. We posted at the same time, so I cant read whats not on my screen.

2nd. Lets just forget this, its turning out to be one of the moist pointless arguements ever...

^ I think this is the perfect sentence. This is what I was saying. It is a dead rubber, you guys seem to be enjoying it nevertheless. So I think instead of saying this is not a dead rubber, we can all agree that what you guys are saying is that there is no match in the Ashes that we dont deeply care for and enjoy, regardless of whether its a dead rubber or not.

I think we can close this chapter with that.
