Ashes 2015 - Australia tour of England July/September 2015

Care was not to show that it is a dead rubber. That this is a dead rubber is beyond doubt. Going by the book.

So the point was you would not care for a dead rubber.

However that you still care, doesn't mean its not a dead rubber.

All it means is that you care for a dead rubber. That this is a dead rubber, strictly going by the definition is not in doubt.

Just to add, if it was say 4-0, I would understand it was not a dead rubber, as you really wanted to make it 5-0. I would get that. At 3-1 though, there really is no point, whether it finishes 4-1 or 3-2, England was won a magnificient series regardless.

Only if you subscribe to Einstein's description of a Dead Rubber. Most people think of a Dead Rubber as a contest no-one is bothered about. Just playing for the sake of playing. So whilst you are correct (had to look this up! I'm not up to speed on my Einstein!) in the definition provided by Einstein, the term "dead rubber" gives off the impression of no-one giving a shit.

I think there is a point to every contest, regardless of the score.

1st. We posted at the same time, so I cant read whats not on my screen.

2nd. Lets just forget this, its turning out to be one of the moist pointless arguements ever...

I agree this is the most senseless thing I have ever had to argue, but you started it with rather desperate your opinion is wrong post.

Look not that this is not one of silliest things I have argued over but since this is not ending, here goes -

No I subscribe not to Einstein, but humble google's -

Dead rubber is a term used in sporting parlance to describe a match in a series where the series result has already been decided by earlier matches. The dead rubber match therefore has no effect on the winner and loser of the series, other than the number of matches won and lost.

So there it is, this 5th test is a dead rubber. Even the Ashes therefore have dead rubbers. How can they not? However I get it that despite this being a dead rubber you guys still enjoy it as much as any other match in the series.

So instead of saying there are no dead rubbers, you can say, that even so, we care for it as if it were not a dead rubber. And I will say okay great. Got it.

Now lets end this silliness. I don't eve understand how it got started to begin with.

You called our fellow PC member Markkkkkk Einstein, and quoted his post. As we are being silly, I just thought I'd try and make a joke. I apologise.

As soon as I opened up FM I got a press conference that said:

"With the match against Legańes being a dead rubber..."

Man I was about to start quoting Einstein...

YES! We made it thorugh the rest of the day!

Don't quote yourself!

Sorry that was such a bad joke in my previous post. I will stick to serious jokes from now on.[DOUBLEPOST=1440180400][/DOUBLEPOST]Also, who was slagging off the cricket poems? Was that PokerAce? Mean!

Great day though for aussies both marsh and siddle proving discipline wins, should have played the match before but cant see them helping that batting collapse much though.
Ali and wood can still swing it tomorrow even a 50 -100 odd will get some momentum going in for ENG and may be we can have a thriller atlast in this Dead rubber :p

Lol, even now you can't let it go. Childish.[DOUBLEPOST=1440179959][/DOUBLEPOST]

When did I quote Einstein.

Do a lot of players in India struggle with Back and Knee injuries?

Just noticed that tremlett has retired due to Injuries. It seems a lot of English players retire in their early 30's due to injury, and I'm just wondering if its the same around the world.

He was great in the 2010/11 Ashes. I loved watching him steam in!
