Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Begs the question....'how long do they own the ashes licence for?'

Given Big ants track record of abandoning games, i am understandably concerned about ashes cricket 2017. there appears to be a schism between those who blindly buy and follow the game no matter what, and those who can see the cricket games for what they really are, bugs and all.

This is from the big ant forums today and perfectly illustrates the incipient problems with big ant in relation to patching games and fixing reported bugs;

“With the announcement of Ashes 2017 game, I wonder what will happen to DBC 17.
Especially what will happen to all the bugs in DBC 17 that players face while playing multiplayer online games.
1. Run out glitches (different types of them)
2. Game crashes
3. Invisible balls
4. Fielding Bugs (non-reacting fielders)

Very rarely I see a game developing company give up on a game bugs and move on to releasing a new game without fixing the previous game issues.

Is ashes just another patched version of DBC 17 ? Different look and feel but with same buggy gameplay ?
It would be very shameful if it turns out to be like that”

The amazon reviews seem to suggest that ashes cricket is very bugged on ps4. DB17 serious bugs have still not been fixed, even though big ant know about tem, and they never will be fixed.

At least on steam you can get a refund for games up to two hours play. That’s not very long for a game like this where serious game breaking bugs may not become immediately apparent.

Big ant really haven’t listened in the past and have clearly shown no interest in fixing serious bugs.

Of course, many on here will defend them. They may be the ones who obliviously follow the game whatever big ant do. Or don’t do.

so don't buy it?

Ashes is far superior to DBC17 bugs and all, the problem has always been the publisher, BigAnt were severely limited as to what could be done after their licence expired (due to publisher issues) now they are self publishing... it should be much better, as you can see already patches 1.03 (day 1), patch 1.04 a few days later and 1.05 within 24hrs (to fix a problem with 1.04 granted) but I doubt very much this would have happened if they were not self publishing

but at the end of the day, you have access to all the reviews etc, one can now make an informed decision BUY or DON'T BUY that is the question! ;)

What if you dint had this forum ??
Where do you go and complain ?
Did you ever come across any cricket game which can match DBC14, DBC17 or Ashes Cricket?
I am very honestly telling this ... I have been playing the cricket games on PC since 2000 .
I have some years of experience on each of these games BLC99, EA cricket 2002,2004,2007,Ashes Cricket 2009.
I have also played all the versions of ICC cricket captain since 2007 series onwards.

For hands on playing, cricket games developed by BigAntStudios is purely into different zone no match with the other ones.
For management game ICC cricket captain is the best one.

Even i accept that there are few issues in DBC17 and Ashes Cricket, as per me but there is no game which can match to these ones.

Since one year till date I am still playing DBC17 , I enjoy that game even now.

If Big Ant had no intention to fix then they would not have been here interacting with everybody.

I think since the Ashes was near they had to deliver the game ASAP.

I believe that Ashes cricket game will get all the patches which are required.

I've edged the ball to the keeper and slips quite a lot haha
Good to know. Which format you have edged the ball to the keeper or slip fielders?
I have updated the patch version to 1.05 ps4. Is it a problem? Or else Am I master in batting?

When you known you can hit 3 sixes every over barring spinners, didn't get to face spinners more as total hours spent in this game is very less, just kills the excitement!
Played on legend/hard
Way too predictable gameplay and top of that buginess hurts even more! Had some great memories of DBC 17 which made me preorder...New animations are great but it's the gameplay that matters the most! Man waiting for patch that removes this six hitting mania that's the biggest bug in my opinion...a big turn off to be honest.. Until next patch gotta give this a rest.. Let's see what we get in new patch..

Will be interesting competition though, just like FIFA and PES. But EA has yet to come up with official announcement if they are planning to make a cricket game.

Try playing on hardest. Reduce ai difficulty to veteran. Adjust physics modifier of pace min and max at 45 to get an extra split second (since in hardest ball marker time is minimal). I am liking this gameplay.

I wish they introduce another difficulty level wherein ball marker time is same as hard and rest everything is like hardest difficulty. I say this since batting modifiers are broken.

Somehow I managed to play few games on hardest batting level (custom slider) by reducing "Timing shot" from 100 to 85. Everything remains untouched except early pitch marker.

It should be 85 to 90, otherwise, we can't connect the ball at all.

It's not a buggy mess at all, it's the best cricket game big ant have made.yes there are problems, mainly with the batting.
But I would rather big ant take there time and put out a great patch, than rush out a patch and make the game shit, like ea have done with fifa 18.

I am one among them who pre ordered fifa 18 PS4 and played it on very first day. After a hour of playing, felt that it's not worth the money. I stopped playing fifa 18 completely now.. Sorry, off topic. EA is such a crap and money minded company.

Had to recreate the Border Gavaskar Trophy with Australia in India for 4 test matches.(Same days, squads, etc.)Probably my favourite series I have watched this year.Never had this much fun playing test cricket in dbc, this game is incredible

Shows how subjective these things can be, I am loving fifa 18 (offline) :p
