Ashes Cricket General Discussion

I also felt you were mentioning the time DBC got patches on steam first for all to test and then compiled them on to the console..But inclusion of AO tennis changed the track diverting it to consoles..

For now they could very well patch PC and ask people to report issues in departments only they have tweaked and any other info or request could be just deleted..That way we could get a larger picture on how the progress is, as these patches can make or break for some, we also can see crashes, glitches or issues associated with it...So as we progress one department to another we get a smoother transition..Suggesting mainly because the guys playing and testing them are very limited now...I would very well love to join the testing and give feedback..

well i was talking about console. but IF the rapid patches spiel is legit (which makes the awful patches 1.04 and 1.05 even more bizarre) it still doesn't preclude incremental patches on steam. and i say this because - provided the nonsense can be filtered - increasing the number and styles of players and play hours can only help. we've seen the issues happen before where great patches had issues that weren't seen until they went to a wider audience. the mostly awesome beta group (even Ross agrees Snowy contributes nothing) deserve better than a situation where if there is something that has been missed, they get moaned at "how you missed"

Philander coming at you baby........8 for 4 off 6 overs.....pro/hard.......me "batting" (Don't know why I am carry that piece of wood around.....mwahahahaha.....)

Every ball is a new challenge at the mo....sometime it goes straight, then in , then out, then shapes towards you and then away from you.....and I am left reeling....thankfully the Ai know how to bat!

I just hope its not too challenging, but then again this should be on veteran, legend, hard or hardest... i can see some folks dropping a difficluty level or two to get used to things again and moving up ;)

Exactly , there will be some cases which beta boys failed to capture and then there will be more moaning in the PC forum , incremental patches via steam with controlled environment is the only way forward in order to save time and effort.

it's touching that you're prepared to back up your fellow tester in public.

Wow! Nice! Another level down the abyss.

I guess you will be quoting private conversations soon.

Yes I have thought where is snowy in the thread and there have been conversations wherein beta members have vented frustration both with the process and those involved in it.

I am sure people have had private conversations about what a dick I can be.

I had the decency to approach snowy privately to ask how he was and how he saw things. I got a decent honest answer and my perception was corrected.

Things are often not as we perceive them from our narrow perspective.

People have lives going on with stuff happening and are there in the background participating in their own way, quietly and determindly. I am ashamed of my own narrowmindedness at times.

I come across as a brash, sarcastic, sometimes funny individual but I look at some of my comments and things I have said with utter embarrasment and disgust.

It is all too easy for all of us to be the big mouth behind an annomynous user name.

I treat no one in real life the way I treat some people here; but I get treated here like no one treats me in real life. We all have our bit to do.

The reason for posting about the beta is an attempt by me to be involved in a more positive and human way in the public threads. I demand that from myself and stumble continually.

I took the concious decision around the middle of January to work actively, cooperatively and with integrity within the beta process, putting all things to one side and try and do my bit to create a productive enviroment in which both ba and the beta team felt they could work together in mutual trust and understanding.

I think the fruits of everybody involved willing to do the same are now becoming clear. Of that I am proud to be involved in, and grateful to those involved whether it be fellow beta members or people from ba especially Matt who has been an utter wizard in what we are seeing now.

Sorry Dave but you are becoming a bit of
a bitter person. I have always enjoyed our interactions and your candid responses and at times they have been a nudge and a trigger for better things. Now you just go round in a circle.

@Dutch Do the AI batsmen pre-read the seam movement like they knew it from cutters? it looked very attrocious when you bowl a massive offcutter wide off offstump ending on leg stump yet AI plays a glance as if they already knew that it will end on legstump.

In otherwords can we deceive the AI through seam movement in the form of bowled , Play n Misses and chances.

Please say YES if AI fails to read 9/10 seam movements as in real life it is nearly impossible to read it (You can make an allowance by adjusting your feet and leaving the ball in order to save your self from getting LBW or knicking it but you can't read it) unlike cutters which can be read more easily.

I would still say take all the time you need to fix things even if I sound like a supplicant!

i'm not falling out with you dutch, i go by what i see/have seen.

i also decided to work within the beta, as you know, and tried to get a collaborative position going. BA stuck 2 fingers up at that, and i decided to walk away.

if their engagement has changed and that's helping, great. if it hasn't but they are still getting improvements - still great. all i want is a great cricket game, and i don't care whether i'm involved in that or not. i'm not bitter about that whatsoever.

i am however critical - as i was inside the beta - of BA's community engagement, or lack thereof. and i am critical of posts like the snowy one i called out, that contribute nothing, whoever they come from.

There's an entire Bash Dutch secret thread you don't know about...
I have felt it, the stabbing eyes, the smirks, the inappropriate touching.....[DOUBLEPOST=1520583661][/DOUBLEPOST]Theres a great article on cricinfo inspirered by the Warner thing: We want a hard game but a kinder game. Cricket used to be the elegant sport, the game of mutual respect: now it has become the playground of loudmouthed thugs and mercernaries:

I am detecting a pattern......

It seems like there are only ~50 players in the game on Steam anyway at any one time (although I'd expect that to go up a bit if a patch was released). So it's not like they would be drowned in white noise if they released a public update on Steam for bug-testing purposes.

It's all very well saying "take all the time you need to fix everything" but I'm not sure it's even possible for a dozen (not sure of the exact size of the beta team) people to catch everything, let alone fix it. If they continue with the One Big Patch route and it turns out one of the things the beta missed is a biggie and what Ross says is true so they can't get a patch out rapidly to fix it, it could end up being a disaster.

Just have one heavily moderated bug report thread and keep the beta team focused on game-play tweaks and improvements

The solid release game was butchered with 2 patches in 2 days after release. So I would take that with a large pinch of salt... luckily I'm due to pick up my blood pressure pills today

Just a thought, could Ross's attitude be because someone sold him a potentially great game with a whole bunch of minor problems, but hasn't fixed it yet? Maybe Angry Chief Executive Officer 2018? In the game so far a lot of the clients are annoyed and a few seething, but the CEO himself is quite jolly (y'know, having the clients money and all that). It's just not playing out as Angry Chief Executive Officer 2018 at all! When will the patch drop!

If so, then I think I can really sympathize with him.

(BTW - This is what attempts to pass for a joke). :p
