Ashes Cricket General Discussion

Some people on here feel like BA owe them something. And in essence they truly do not.

Actually nope, you don't get to make that argument. Ross specifically said that future support was factored into the (AAA level) price for Ashes Cricket. So yes, I am owed patches based on the £50 I dropped on the game. :cheers

As for whether they should "engage with the community". I'd really rather Ross didn't post here at all to be honest, so no arguments there from me.

Who has said the game is unplayable?
Seriously Dave? That's all you got from that.

But to answer your question no one has and that's the point.
It is playable and largely enjoyable. But you for one are making this personal. Openly attacking @Dutch? For what? Play the game or don't. But if you do not agree with the way the company works so be it. You had your say. You wrote your open letter. You have put your point across. Now let's all be mature and move on.

There is future support?

You got patches and there is an incumbent patch that deals with all the gripes so far.

Slow clap for @WealeyH

:clap:clap:clap:clap

Great post mate. That x10000

Some people on here feel like BA owe them something. And in essence they truly do not. You don't like the game, deal with it. You don't like the company don't buy their product.
Cricket games for the last 10 and even more years have been shit at best. Moddable by the community but as a stand-alone shit I tell you. If anyone here disagrees with that, fly a kite because I do not care.

Everyone keeps saying its not as good as BL99. Yeah that was a great game, we all agree. But it's been twenty years ffs get over it. It ain't never coming back.

BA have made games worth playing. Games we all wanted to play. Are they unplayable, hell no. So seriously, get off your high horse and play the tweaking game or start knitting or drawing or whatever tickles your little mind.

I'm not really buying that, although I generally agree with your views on here I don't with this.

What's been charged for DBC titles (especially in South Africa), is a lot of money.

We are into the third iteration now, with an academy and loads of fancy sliders that have done sweet FA. At the best that is deception. Can you imagine buying a car with an A/C button and finding out actually it didnt have air conditioning? Or it might possible have air conditioning next year? It's not right. We had a good cricket game, two rubbish patches, and then the developer disappears.

I do have other hobbies and Ashes Cricket has been collecting dust while I get on with my life, but that doesn't mean I don't have the right to be highly annoyed, until something gets released with depth and purpose that shows this franchise's potential.

There literally is no point in me going on forums and getting myself worked up

I understand this and the rest of your post, Wealey I do. Please don't mistake the content of what the likes of myself and blocker are saying for being "worked up". Literally I sit here and type stuff, because I feel I have something to say, it's my honest thoughts or a joke, or just a theory.

It's using a forum for what forums are for. It's definitely wrong to say things that make definitive declarations of what Big Ant's intentions are, because we don't know that. Theorizing about things whilst waiting and waiting and waiting is human nature and actually the longer that waiting is, it's more than fair enough.

I think it gets missed when we talk about what isn't going right that there are positive thoughts from the same people who'll have opinions on negative aspects. I myself have been really pleased and full of praise for the beta team and their recent information. I've stated that they are in my opinion working extremely well on the most important aspect, game-play. Still on the other hand there are other things which I'm worried will get missed. Both sides of the coin. Why? Because the issues are complex and there are good things going on and at the same time it's not a good scenario at present for the game owner.

Seriously, I tried to play it earlier and two times in a short game the whole game screen went out of focus, one of those cost my friend a wicket. Right throughout that game and the next, if a catch went to the outfield it was just known to us both, that's out. My friend who was about to get a wicket was as bored as I was, "it sucks when I didn't do anything at all and get the catch". Then there are the edges which go for six. There are sixes being hit at will all over the show. These things and others are not wait 3-4 month issues for a third iteration game.

At the same time, I'm not ignorant of the fact that there are many wonderful things going on in the game, that Big Ant have got most of a great game together. It's just that games of cricket hinge on moments and when stuff like that happens it leaves you feeling like the result is down to freak occurrences etc.

So yeah, it might seem like we're worked up, but we're not (well I'm not). It just might not seem like that because we're not raving about a game which is like swiss cheese at times for some of us. :)

SA vs AUS ... Smith On Crease does we get new Patch before he gets out ..

I didn't say there isn't. Just saying it's incorrect to say we're not owed anything.

Also @Llewelynf don't think there were any PC patches so far.
The last PC patch for everyone was on 18 December I believe, its hard for me to tell because I am not on the mainstream game. But I do know that for sure.

I'm not really worked up either. More like skiving off work. :p

Also the patch you guys are talking about was the one to fix a career mode crash on HD displays. How could I forget such advancements! :thumbs

He exists the issue, Big Ant burned a lot of their good well, and haven't bothered fostering more. I'd be far more forgiving if they still had the guts to show their faces on here, but even I now can only really describe them as a bit disappointing. I don't doubt they'll produce another good game in the future, but they need to regain their focus, and their community engagement.
Be careful buddy some people here simply cant handle truth.

This is all because of the overwhelming response to posts from them since the start of DBC 14..We all were very very excited on a cricket game being made and they were as well in creating one also taking a huge gamble with the control system which really really paid off..They responded soooo much that it was more or a personalised response like this is missing, this is happening to me etc...So much was happening and that boosted everyone as it was definitely the first time anyone would have thought we could get this close to developers...That openness in response diminished over time as expected because they were getting better and bigger than they were at 14 time...Its all good but it got hard for players, people to see the lowered response from them and release of 17 with the big change in the track 14 was traveling got us all thinking as to what they are trying to do when 14 was and is still a brilliant game , its almost complete , feels smoother in terms of transitions and other stuff...Would have been great if that path was continued but afraid it was not so..BA took to 6 lane highway when the 2 lane highway needed work, it was a huge leap with introduction of stadium creator, different difficulties and so many other terms which needed meaning in game when many base gameplay stuff needed work..It was really ambitious effort for sure but upto what extent it paid off , I have no idea...

Now with Ashes it took another big change in the path with concentration on licensing went on along with big jump into using the player scan and animations..In all of this consistent issues pertaining in each edition is bound to frustrate users who are playing the past 3 versions...Ashes for me is definitely the best version they could reach so far and even they have managed to put in all other stuff into it even when its based on two main teams..Have no idea about versions of beta which many said were the best possible version of the game but the current beta build with all the posts and responses from Dutch, Wealey and Llewelynf are really encouraging to us..

But when someone like Ross who was known for his really good responses during 14 days has taken the path of defending and very attracted to negative part of the posts which I dont personally feel healthy for him as it just continues to search in for more of the same stuff and that isnt helping any purpose here as well..I really appreciate when he says he has guys reading posts here for suggestions but we just need to find a common base for both of us to communicate with a healthy mindset..

Being open now with what is being done wouldnt help again because people are ready to attack when something they want isnt done in the game...We all want a great game and we are always in search for it and this can turn into one..We all need to be positive and have a positive outlook about things, when certain things are shared by beta we need to appreciate or comment or give feedback about that info alone as we cannot judge the game only with the posts they post, end of the day we all are eager to try the patch and we need to wait for it , then post things in a way its better for them to solve the issue than making it harder for them than it already is...Just my view on the situation..

Not sure how the future is gonna be but we can always decide how we would want to respond to different situations with a calm mind and being helpful just for the betterment of all of us...
