And if anything, Ben needs him the least. With Kallis in his squad he could've gotten 100 quality overs just by selecting four pace bowlers between 8 and 11. With the selection of Kumble, Ben will be as well equipped for an overlong innings (120+ overs) as I am. In fact, he'll probably be the only other drafter to get to 100 quality overs (unless KP and Manee take advantage of their all-rounders and play a five bowler attack).
Given all that, I'm really surprised Kumble lasted so long. Part of the plan with the Murali/Warne double-pick was to force an early stampede for the quality spin stocks that remained. Didn't work out that way, but I think there are a couple of teams that look like they'll be a bit hamstrung by the omission.
For my money, Ben looks like the man to beat. Great batting lineup full of players that average 50+ and a quality bowling attack with good new ball penetration and plenty of variety to follow it up.

Dare, just out of curiousity, why are you batting Mohammad Yousuf at 3? Yousuf has played 2 innings batting at number 3 in Test Cricket and scored 19 runs whilst he averages over 70 batting at number 4. Plus Brian Lara is your best batsman?

Just putting him there now I will shuffle the lineup after the draft is over. If I can get somebody that is a better #3 I might move Yousuf down the order, I cant predict what guys I will be able to draft so I'm not putting the guys in permanent spots.
And Yes Brian Lara is my best batsman. The team lives and dies with Lara.

Explanation: I was torn between 2 top class batsmen, but in the end I went for Shiva. He had a somewhat inconsistent start to his Test career, but in the last few years he's been superb. In the last 5 years of his career, he has 3855 Test runs at an average of 64.25 with 12 Hundreds, and 22 fifties. He was ranked the #1 batsman in the world as well for a decent period of time, just a class act.

Good pick that, he was one of the 2 batsmen I was interested in. Got a couple of ideas in mind for my next pick, hopefully they'll remain unpicked! Starting to get more difficult now that's for sure.
I suspected he was one of the two. Tbh, my team is based around rising against top opposition and Laxman is the epitome of such.

I wouldn't say that Laxman is more stylish then Tendulkar because Tendulkar's the most stylish batsman that I've ever seen and I wouldn't call Ganguly stylish to begin with!

BTW, great job on administrating this tournament. I haven't seen how others have done in other competitions, tbf, but you have been on the ball all the time. Good job.

Explanation: Well I really wanted Shiv for this spot but since KP already took him I had to take someone else and noticed that Hussey is still available. A guy that not too long ago averaged 60+ in test cricket but bad form and fatigue got the best of him over the last few months. Really strengthens the middle order.
