Balapuwaduge Ajantha Winslo Mendis (born March 11, 1985 in Moratuwa) is a cricketer who plays for the Sri Lankan national cricket team.

Mendis, although classified as slow-medium, bowls a mixture of deliveries, including googlies, off-breaks top-spinners, flippers and leg-breaks, as well as a "flicker", released with a snap of his fingers. For Sri Lanka Army in 2007-08 he averaged a mere 10.56 and took 46 wickets in six games, his strike rate a startling 31. This gained him a call-up to the full Sri Lanka squad for the Caribbean tour in April 2008.

His best bowling performance in a one-day international came in the final of the 2008 Asia Cup, where he took 6 wickets for 13 runs in just his eighth match. His 17 wickets in the tournament earned him the Man of the Series award.

Timothy Grant Southee(born 11 December 1988 in Whangarei, New Zealand) is a New Zealand cricketer. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler who plays international cricket for New Zealand and State Championship cricket for Northern Districts and plays for Northland in the Hawke Cup. He made his first-class debut on 19 February 2007 at the age of eighteen.

After an impressive start to his career with Northern Districts, Southee was picked to play for a New Zealand side in a Twenty20 match against a Bangladesh side on December 23, 2007. The game was a charity match for cyclone relief in Bangladesh.

On 30 January 2008, Southee was named in the New Zealand squad for two Twenty20 International games and three One Day International games against England

Rohit Gurunath Sharma (born April 30, 1987, in Bansod, Nagpur, Maharashtra) is an Indian cricketer. Sharma is a right-handed middle-order batsman and occasional right-arm offbreak bowler. Having started his international playing career at the tender age of 20, Sharma quickly exhibited his athletic fielding and cool temperament to compliment his solid batting technique. He is pegged by many analysts to be a permanent fixture on the Indian cricket team

Sharma made his List A debut for West Zone against Central Zone in the Deodhar Trophy in March 2006, at Gwalior[4]. It was his unbeaten innings of 142 in 123 balls against North Zone at Udaipur in the same tournament[5], that brought him into the limelight

Sharma was first selected for the limited-overs matches on India's tour to Ireland in 2007. He made his One Day International debut against Ireland at Belfast, although he did not bat in the match[10].

Sharma bowling in the nets.Sharma eventually made his mark at the international stage on 20 September 2007, when he lead India to victory by scoring an unbeaten 50 (which came off 40 deliveries) against South Africa in the 2007 ICC World Twenty20[11]. The win reserved India a berth in the semifinals of the tournament. At one stage India were 61-4, but his partnership of 85 runs with skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni helped India to post a total of 153-5.[11]. He was eventually declared Man of the Match.Sharma then proceeded to score 30 runs off 16 balls in the final against Pakistan.

Stuart Christopher John Broad (born 24 June 1986 in Nottingham, England) is an English test and one-day cricketer. He plays for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, and previously represented Leicestershire County Cricket Club. He is the son of former England cricketer and ICC match referee Chris Broad. In August 2006 he was voted the Cricket Writer's Club Young Cricketer of the Year.

Stuart Broad originally started his career as an opening batsman, like his father. It wasn't until he was 17 and had a growth spurt that he started to consider being a genuinely quick bowler.

Broad played his first game for Leicestershire 2nd XI in 2004 just before his 18th birthday and impressed enough to be given a full contract for the following season. Broad continued to impress Director of Cricket James Whitaker and made his first class debut early in the 2005 season against Durham University Centre of Cricketing Excellence.

Broad played for the England Under-19 squad in 2005, facing the Sri Lankan U-19 squad, and took five for 17 in the first test. He was named in the ECB National Academy squad for winter 2005-06. He was then called up to the England 'A' squad touring the West Indies, as a replacement for James Anderson who had been drafted into the Test side touring India. In April 2006, Broad was again called up to the England A squad, facing the touring Sri Lankan team.

Shaun Edward Marsh (born 9 July 1983) in Narrogin, Western Australia, is an Australian cricketer who plays for the Western Warriors in Australian domestic cricket. The left-handed middle order batsman is the son of former Test cricketer Geoff Marsh.

He made his First-class debut for Western Australia against South Africa at Perth in 2000/01. He made his maiden First-class hundred against a NSW side featuring Steve & Mark Waugh in 2003.

Shaun was named the Lawrie Sawle Medallist for being the best player in the Western Australian state cricket team for the 2007/08 season. His excellent form during that season lead to him being given a Cricket Australia Contract and being called up to the Australian Cricket tour of the West Indies. He was also awarded a contract in the Indian Premier League to the Kings XI Punjab franchise, for whom he plays as an opening batsman. Shaun was the highest run scorer in Indian Premeir League.

Dale Willem Steyn (born 27 June 1983 in Phalaborwa) is a South African cricketer who plays in Test and One Day International cricket for South Africa. Steyn plays domestic cricket in South Africa for Nashua Titans. He is a right-arm fast bowler. Steyn holds the record for the fastest South African to reach 100 wickets in Test Match cricket, a feat he achieved on 2 March 2008 . Steyn currently has the second best bowling strike rate of all time in Test match cricket

Steyn is an aggressive out-and-out fast bowler capable of bowling at speeds in excess of 145 km/h. He is capable of generating considerable swing and usually chosen to bowl with the new ball to maximise these attributes

Steyn made his debut for South Africa on 17 December 2004 in the first Test of England's tour. His first victim in Test cricket was Marcus Trescothick whom he bowled with a fast in-swinging delivery

Steyn retained his Test place for the three match home series against India. He picked up an injury whilst bowling early in India's first innings in the first Test at Johannesburg which prevented him from taking much further part in the game and also ruled him out of the second Test

Steyn's next international appearance was in the first Twenty20 International against the West Indies. He took the exceptional figures of 4/9 in three overs, with all four wickets being picture perfect yorkers, but was unable to stop the West Indies chasing down the target of 59 runs

Coming into the three Test series against India predictions about how Steyn would fare were mixed, with some commentators identifying him a crucial part of a South African team which could pose a serious challenge to India [45], whilst others predicted he might stuggle playing against a strong batting lineup on lifeless subcontinent pitches
