Well i'm sure there is a stand-by player. I bet the selectors aren't thinking Brad Hodge. Probably thinking another all-rounder- Noffke maybe. Oh god just imagine if Hussey's form is so bad that he's forced to be dropped. Who the hell is our back up? Manou, Mcdonald and Watson? Fingers crossed Hussey finds form. Lol good to see i'm not the only one who dislikes Watson. Wasn't Hauritz working on a doosra?

Watson is the backup, McDonald would be ahead of Manou due to his experience. We have no all rounders worth calling up, Noffke isn't even in our contracted 25 and I wouldn't trust him at 6. They would be forced to call up a batter.

All our off spinners are meant to be working on the doosra lol, I don't think any of them have it perfected.

Surely Hauritz is a waste of space. North looks just as good a bowler and can bat at 6. You might as well have had a Lee or Hilfenhaus as a 4th seamer.

lol neither would i but its the selector's opinions that matter. A batter is a must but somehow they might think all-rounder for an all-rounder. I might be belittling their intelligence but they don't seem too sharpe at the moment.

^^I think Hauritz performance in the warm-ups will decide if we go with North as our frontline spinner or not. Hopefully he's got that doosra. Hopefully.

Hauritz is a more economical spin bowler compared to North. North just flings it down there without much flight so on a spinners pitch which Cardiff is suppose to be, Hauritz off spin should be more handy than another seamer.

It's time to call up B. Hodge, the saviour. If they call up anyone else, it'll be a joke.

Agreed BUT Hodge isn't in England i believe. He's staying in Australia with his family. I remember reading an article about it. David Hussey is over there playing for Notts i believe. I would love to see a fit Jacques come into the side but thats not going to happen. If they're going to pick its most likely guys playing county...

Doesn't mean he won't be called up, pretty sure Stuart Clark was called up from Australia (and oblivion) in 2005 when McGrath was injured. Didn't play but was there as cover.

They won't call up guys playing County cricket, no point really since they are already in England and can be called up at any time.

phillip hughes in the first over of the first tour match against sussex has scored 3 fours in 6 balls not a bad start;)

I don't think you really need a Doosra as an off-spinner, it can wreck your action and form if you get caught up on trying to work on one. The human body was not meant to be able to spin the ball using your fingers and make it turn from leg to off... Unless you have an abnormal body or throw the ball. *cough cough*

North vs Hauritz in bowling? Ehh, I don't know mate. Very bold statement IMO.

Brad Podge is fat, they won't bother bringing him over - cost to much to feed him if he isn't playing.

I'm sorry, but radio commentary of cricket simply leaves nothing to the imagination. The only thing I've heard other than the two main commentators is the applause that was given to somebody whose name escapes me after saving a boundary.

Just had the absolute daylights scared out of me. This is how it went...

"Yes, two out of either Siddle...Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus and uh, Stuart Clark will play for their--OH WOW, HE'S BOWLED HIM, WHAT A MAGNIFICENT DELIVERY BY PEPLER SANDRI!"

Seeing the current performance against Sussex I doubt that Australia'll retain the Ashes....

You are kidding right? You are basing that comment on 20 overs?

The Hughes machine experienced its first failure in the English tour, better now than the actual series. Katich looking good so far.
