Great entertaining captains knock, but it wouldn't be fair if I didn't point out that it was quite flawed at times. That's the nature of the critical beast. It definitely seems fair to say he is a hard pitch specialist. I suppose this has been assumed or speculated by a few amateur England analysts already, however. Bell on a good'n. How small is he? I never noticed this (mind you I'm not one to talk on stature).

500+ is what Eng want. At stumps, it looks a bit of a stretch, but well within the realms of non-fiction. Hopefully this is the match that so many thought Edgbaston was.

Why did the AUSSIE miss the bus?
Because he tried to catch it ;)

Bell is about 5"10 as i noticed it when he was standing next to KP but KP is 6"5.

Bell looked in good touch today, tres was unlucky with his dismissal but was dropped by Gilly. Looking forward to tomorrow.

Gilly had a bit of a Jonesy yesterday. Hopefully he improves through the match as Aus will need him to take catches and get some runs.

the last wicket dismissal must have revived Aussie spirits . Does anyone remember the India V Australia match at the MCG in the 2003 tied series . On Day one India were cruising along at 284/2 courtesy Sehwag`s 195 , before Dravid got out and ended day one on 339/4 before being bowled out for 360 odd runs and Australia won by 10 wickets .
I feel that this will be a similar kind of a test match . Anyone agrees ?

I don't think so. England are a much better all round side than India was back then. England have 2 pace bowlers that have caused the Aussies some problems. Sehwag was on fire that match though, he could have got 200 if he stayed in.

Nope, England aint gonna collapse that badly, cuz even the bowlers can bat and score some runs. I reckon a score of between 450-500.

I reckon the Aussies would be happy to knock them over for around 450. Given the pitch and the inordinate number of skill errors thus far that would be a very solid effort, but again it all comes down to whether the Australian batsmen can knuckle down. The England tail can bat a bit, but it would nice to see the back of two of the batsmen by the mid point of the first session.

If conditions are unfavourable this morning, England could very well collapse. Then of course there is added likelyhood that this will be a poor time for Australia to come in to bat. Both Lee and McGrath are bowling with potency and the new ball has come into play. I would think England would be uncomfortable with anything less than 450. Such a total, however, may yet prove formidable.

None of the aussies look capable of making a century at the moment 400 runs will be a tough ask the way there going.

Hopefully Lee can rip through england to get them out quickly
