I didn't expect that too. But imagine this: if a wicket would fall then at least there will a person come in who still can make runs.

And Gillespie is now LBW out.

Well i dont think they can doit now. 5 an over. but i guess it only take a few boundaries after they survive the new ball. But i think that warne and lee could have played more attacking if they new gillespie could defend and still save the draw

i would love to have the perfect scerario. warne needs 6 of the last ball to win the match but England need 1 wicket with flintoff bowling

I take back all I've said about Jones! Fantastic keeper ;) :D

Well played Australia. Well played Ponting. Well played Brett Lee.

But England tried their best, and are definately outplaying the Aussies!

ermm well The Best team in the world Drew is the way to some up the match, although which team that is, is anyones guess.

England completely outplayed Australia, Gillespie must be replaced as effectively they have 3 1/2 bowlers to use. Umpires did well, Martyn shouldn't have been given out, but he should have walked when he edged it to the keeper. Great catch by Jones to dismiss Warne. 4 day test match effectively with Saturday rained out bar 14 overs. Well done to both teams.

Congrats Oz on saving the match, terrific knock from Ponting :clap . Outplayed for most of the match, but still sneak a draw. Not often you see Aus celebrating a draw like they've won the match though, but will that result give them the momentum going into the next Test?
Fantastic effort from both teams, wonderful entertainment :clap .

if aus draw this they just need to win one more test to win the ashes:o and i think they will with new players coming in /playings getting into form (hayden) then hopefully last test they will use tait etc

They would retain the ashes if they draw the series, but they'll have to improve a heck of a lot.

Nice 50 pointing. I know a lot of people feel warne should be captain but pointing is a great captain. Lacks form this series but he is a great batsman and the greatest fielder.

Nah Collingwood is a better fielder, Ponting looks dodgy early on, but yes is a great cricketer.

Yeah, I understand that but it was never going to be one of the greatest bowling efforts ever to knock a side over on the final day, that had no prospect of winning..... you blokes were odds on to win it.

Flintoff and Jones have bowled beautifully in this match, they were the only two English bowlers I rated coming into the series and I rated em highly. Unfortunately they have proven me right! That being said, catches win matches and our bowlers certainly created enough opportunities to have you blokes in trouble, and to cover for a batting lineup that save for Alfie, has looked as ordinary as it did for most of the one day matches. Looks like Australia will have to come back from the dead once again if it is to retain the Ashes and a decent lead on the points table.

Eh? So you don't rate Harmison or hoggard?

I know Giles isn't the best bowler in the world but still does a good job. Hoggard destroyed South Africa and is one almighty or a threat when it's swinging, Harmison is out of form but is still one of the best bowlers in the world. Although his form is dissapointing.

Fantastic ticker by the boys, I probably shouldn't have written them off. I always reckon you can tell how good a team is when they play well below their capability, and it was great to see the Aussies is foreign territory (batting to save a match) carve out a draw with all but 3 or 4 players contributing pretty much zero. Hopefully they can start to play somewhere near capacity towards the end of this series as they did in the ODI's.

Must give credit to Freddy and Simon Jones, even though their career stats aren't particularly impressive it seems that there current form is not a flash in the pan, they were actually bowling too well to catch the edges of the Aussie bats. However, hopefully this final day will make some people realise that the English attack as a whole aint the greatest as some were proclaiming. If it aint swinging, Hoggard is an honest but uninspiring quick. Giles lacks the talent to be a match winner and Harmison's mental strength is a game-to-game, match-to-match propisition (although if he was to pitch one in the batsmen's half he would be unplayable).

But as a unit, obviously England have the goods to take this series out, but the Aussies will be glad to know that a win in the next Test can wrap the series up.

Freddie's bowling has vastly improved in the last 2 years. Jones has a career strike rate of 49. That's good. Flintoff is so consistent in his spells.

I feel like crying at the moment! Full credit to those Australians who never gave up. Fantastic, tense action, which one day is going to give me a heart attack.
