What a match, what a series. People will be talking about the 2005 Ashes series for years to come.

Good to see Vaughan and Jones put in a good performance - the current team is the best in the country, and I'll be furious if the selectors change it.

Freddie's bowling has vastly improved in the last 2 years. Jones has a career strike rate of 49. That's good. Flintoff is so consistent in his spells.

I know, its a couple of years since he was decimated by Sri Lanka, India and South Africa in consecutive series, and I think that's made him a better bowler.

The future looks bright for England. Youthful, talented and now world beaters! And it can only get better and better with every match and every series.

erm yes i do think Pointing is a better fielder than Colingwood. Just because he took a few good catches/run outs recently doesnt make him great.

Well done Australia. Even though its a draw they proved that they are the best team in the world. (And im an India fan). i just dont like the way england play and their attitude. Austrlia only have to win 1 test now. I think Tait plays next match and if that doesnt work then Kaspro plays the final test

What a game. two great teams battling it out for the third test (altough i have to aus were outplayed alot in this test) looking forward to the next test. M Vaughan had a great knock on day 1 A Strauss on day 4 and Ponting on day 5 the bowling has been fantastic also (bar Dizzy and maybe Hoggard though he picked up 2 crucial wickets) if the last 2 tests are anything like this it will be great series and remembered for a long time. once again great display by both teams, by England because of the way they have played throughout and Australia because they didnt give up once.

You are envious of England's success. Arent you?

And the Aussies just about managed to sneak out a draw, and they have the rain to thank more for that than themselves.

Australia are the best in the world, but England can and have outplayed them and are world beaters now. And we are only gonna improve since all our players (except Giles) have age on their side, and will participate in atleast the next two Ashes, if not more.

Yeah the next 2 ashes may be easier for England. But Australia do have a talented young team which is finding it hard to break through because of the reputations of Gillespie, Mgrath etc

And why would i be envious if Englands success. Yes they are 2nd in the world atm but those rankings dont mean anything to me. In my opinion India have more talented players than england but they are not on form at the moment. At the beginning of the series against Pakistan we were easily the better team and could have beaten Australia and England on that performance but we got too cocky.

And yes the aussies just about sneaked a draw but they did it didnt they. I feel they could have won if the Martyn decision hadnt gone against them. Even you must have thought they could have done it when Pointing and Clarke were in.

and why are you a fan of M Vaughn. He is over-rated way too much, and Ricky Pointing is under rated. But i guess thats just cricket.

Had it not rained it would have been a completely different and unknown situation; you know that.

What a game, though. In different circumstances, 371 would have been a monumental chase. Indeed better fielding could have reaped dividends for Australia.

Reverse swing is proving quite a factor isn't it? I was actually surprised to see reverse swing being employed with what is practically a new ball at around 20 overs. Aus need to bring in a bowler who can use the ball to trick batsmen in a similar way. A spinner? An untried paceman? A reliable workhorse? The coming weeks will be interesting.

Dean Jones has made a point that I had also observed. The right handers seem to be prevailing against the swing, even in the tail. Perhaps it would be wise to bring in Brad Hodge for Simon Katich.

Say what you want, but this was a great match. And I was listening to the radio, and it really thrives you up.

Eventually the Aussies got a draw. Before Warne got out I actually thought that Australia could win, becuase the runrate was only 7 an over.

India will always have more talent. But unfortunately it hardly translates into success. Also if you do think India have better players than England, then why cant they produce an allrounder like Flintoff. Would do them a world of good if they did find someone half as good.

Also I like Vaughan because he is a good batsman, and the best captain the world at the moment who has transformed a good england into a world beating side.

Exactly, and good point about the reverse swing. But i think its unfair how groundsman are prepareing the pitches for seamers and reverse swing. I think australia have to combat that. The thing about katich is that he could have buiilt an innings like Pointing did and im not too sure about Hodge

Hodge is an innings-building kind of player. I believe he is Test quality. The problem with Katich is that he should have been able to hang around and build if he just played straight and defended a lot, waiting for the bad ball, but the swing has him confused and he flailed at an unnecessary shot. It's not so much that he is to blame, but I think it might be a successful change to make. Also it might wake up the rest, let them know that they can be replaced.

Katich had a good idea though, batting back of the stumps and stepping accross. Hayden should consider this. He needs to cover his stumps a little better.
Clarkey was good, but I guess he left a few too many. There were certainly a few that looked dangerous to leave.

Annihilation both teams get the same conditions to use. Katich played a poor shot. Fantastic test. Vaughan is not overrated, he has the 3rd best century conversion rate in history behind Bradman and Headley. He Averages 45 in test cricket which is very good, Ponting isn't underrated everyone knows what a fantastic cricketer he is.

india have better batsmen at hand we have better pacemen though and All rounder Although Flintoff is one in 6 billiion. Remember though teams win matches not talented individuals.

Yeah i would rather let katich go out of the team than Hayden. He is starting to get used to how the england bowlers are bowling at him and can always make a huge quick innings at the beginning of a match.

Ghilcrish has dissapointed me in the test series. When i saw him at lords he looked in great touch.

I think Australia will win the next match and the ashes. It will be hard for England to win 2 in a row. But if that does happen i would like to see Englands reaction. Will they play the last match with intent on winning or just be dissapointed and get beaten by 300 runs???
