england are 2 but they have had hardly any hard matches before this series against Australia which they are losing.

Its all good getting more points by beating Zimbabwe and Bangladesh but no disrespect but they arent exactly the best at cricket

Lately India have played Pakistan and Australia. A bit harder to thrash them and get easy points......agree?

We beat South Africa 2-1 and New Zealand 3-0, pretty decent sides. And we are NOT losing to the Australians at the moment.

India almost lost to a second string Windies side.

Australia were lucky, we should have won this match after complete domination. I just hope this doesnt affect us in the next two games.

Well played Ponting and the Aussie tail.

I cant help but wonder if Pieterson had held on to the catch of Warne, i think we would have won.

exactly and Yeah u are pretty much losing as that draw counted as a win effectively. Now Australia on,ly have to win1 or draw both to win.

Almost lost..............just like Australia almost beat u in the last 2 tests. ;)

no were not, despite that draw england will still be on a bigger high than the AUZ. They may have been excited at the end the auzzies, but they will soon realise its not like a win, its close to another defeat. England have the momentumm in this series and I have no doubt the Ashes will be coming home come September.

Well its nice to be optimistic.

There has been talk, im not sure if it was in this topic, about symonds playing. Can he? I didnt think he could be called up unless there was an injury to another player

He can be called up at any time. It's only in ICC tournaments that you have to wait for an injury before calling up a fresh player.

so who runs this tournament?

I think he would be a good addition to the team and would also bowl an accurate line to add to the bowling attack which would be as good as Englands if he is in it.......remember Clarke can also bowl

What?! Adding symonds to australias bowling attack makes there bowling line-upp as good as englands?

Complete and utter balls!

How about u dont l=make me laugh. England are crap when they are performing well. I will admit that India are not on form at the moment while England are. BUt an on form England couldnt beat an out of form ageing australia convincingly.

Englands batting attack is pathetic compared to India and the bowling is even as India have the spinners while England have the pace.

We will see at the next world cup. And until u beat india in March cut the bull****

England are crap? So why are the likes of Warne, McGrath, Slater praising us, as i know they know more about cricket than me or you.

We beat South Africa away, the only other team to have ever done that is Australia.

We beat West Indies home and away, although they may not be that good, when they have Sarwan, Lara, Gayle and Chanderpaul they are always a threat.

Annihilation66, keep 'em coming mate. I've just read some of your posts and they're hilarious, just what I needed to cheer me up after yesterday's result :D .

Shoulda, coulda, didn't. Although I did expect the finest bowling attack in the history of the world could have done away with some ageing, useless tailenders......

And I do believe from a series point of view that taking a draw here was crucial. It makes the series win that more tangible being just one win away.

Anyways, England are no.2 at present and they fully deserve it. And let this remain an England v Australia Ashes thread. We can discuss about India and England in some other thread.

Well said m_vaughan, i have noticed how throughout this thread they keep butting there heads in and keep mentioning supposedly how good India and pakistan are, if they didnt notice this is a England - Australia thread.
Also we are number two in the world and long may we stay there and one day move above the Aussies :D
