I can't wait till the 3rd match at the Oval, as i'll actually be there :P. Come on England. I'd like to see Pieterrsen bat how he did in South Africa with Flintoff at the other end. Maybe a 200 partnership from them :D :D :D. I reckon England will take the victory..

What are everyones views on Vaughen's peformances. His one day average is in the twenties and his top ODI score is 90*. What is he doing at number 3 or let alone in the ODI side? Fair enough him being Test Captain but he's awful at ODI's and his record proves it.

He shouldn't have been given out yesterday simple as.

His ODI record over the last year is better than his average says. After 15 ODI matches he averaged under 20.

It's amazing what groundsmen can do with a pitch between innings *rolls eyes*

This was the first time that both teams had the same playing conditions. Both had a great batting pitch, and no cloud cover. Need I say more...

Also what has Simon Jones done to deserve his spot in this side?

Eh?

No i mean the pitch was green at the start of the day and moved dustier later on. They only took the covers off the pitch 1 day before.

simon Jones has been on good form this season when playing.

Simon Jones is just out of form and is not pitching the ball at the right place enough at the moment. Believe me, he is a very handy bowler, and I do believe he is England's third best after Harmison and Flintoff in ODIs.

One person I do feel should probably make way for a younger player is Darren Gough. There is no doubt he has been a great bowler and a great servant for England for the past many years, but I guess he is now nowhere near what he once was. I think Chris Tremlett is a good prospect, and England should give him a shot, and if required when Alex Wharf is fit again, they can alternate them in the team.

As far as the match goes, I thought Australia did an exact repeat of England from the first match. In the first game Australia dint bowl well enough (I dont care what people say about cloud cover and the pitch and god knows what)and this second game England did the same. Well the only difference was that in the second game we would have expected to England to have scored well in excess of the 223 that they made.

People talk about Australia being 80%, but even England have performed well below their potential. I would say England have performed to about 75% of themselves. Simon Jones has been out of form, and really I cannot understand England's opening bowling attack. It should be either Jones and Harmison or Jones and Flintoff if you ask me. But despite that England have beaten the Aussies twice, lost twice with one tied game and one ending without a result.

The third game is nicely poised and believe me both teams have a 50-50 chance of winning now, despite the fact that the Australians have a better side. England have done it before, and I believe they will once again beat the Aussies, tomorrow.

Come on England!

About Simon Jones, I'm not just talking about what I've seen, but if you look at his records nothing is too flash hot at all.

List A: 16 wickets @ 51.00
First Class: 198 wickets @ 32.45
ODI: 7 wickets @ 39.28
Test: 41 wickets @ 31.41

He's not finished yet his international figures will go down. What do you mean by list a?

Yeah, Goughie hasn't had a good summer for England so far, but you know Goughie, don't write him off just yet! I would like to see Tremlett involved again though; looked like he took to international cricket pretty well when he did play earlier in the Nat West series.

I think an average of 30-32 is quite right for Simon Jones. He is no Brett Lee or Wasim Akram so dont expect him to have average like in the mid twenties.

He hasnt played too many ODIs, and I would expect his ODI average to come down after he has played a few more ODIs. But he has picked up some crucial wickets during the WI tour and the home series vs NZ.

Also the alternative to Simon Jones would probably be Alex Wharf who too has done a decent job so far but is not as fast as SJ. He is currently out due to injury.

I think Simon will be more effective against Australia if he opens with Harmison or Flintoff. This is because Gough and Jones are "similar" bowlers.

If Gough doesn't open the bowling then he shouldn't be in the team imo.
Not really. Gough can come in as second change, bowl five overs in his first spell. By then we would have expected the other three bowlers to have picked a wicket or two, so Gough will not be under that much pressure. He can then be brought back into the attack in the final overs, where I find him the most useful.

Something like this

Opening Bowlers: Simon Jones and Steve Harmison (1-10 Overs)
If wicket falls: Andrew Flintoff and Darren Gough (11-20 Overs)
If wicket does not fall and/or RR is very high: Andrew Flintoff and Simon Jones/Steve Harmison (11-15 Overs) Darren Gough and Ashley Giles (16-25 Overs)
Andrew Flintoff, Steve Harmison should have five overs between them available for the final overs, and Darren Gough five overs.
So the last 10 Overs: Andrew Flintoff, Darren Gough and Steve Harmison

England again are in serious trouble. 5/93. Gillespie is bowling a lot better than previous matches, Kasprowicz had chipped in with a couple of wickets, McGrath is back to his misely best, and Brett Lee has bowled really well throughout the whole odi season. Not looking good for the Pommies Ashes chances

Correction: 6/93, Dizzy strikes again

These rules (subs) only work for the lucky captain/team who wins the toss.

So if you win the toss you have 12 players and your opponent has 11. Unless of ocurse you choose a bowler.

The captain should name 12 before the toss then choose the starting 11 after the toss.

england collapse again!!!

Our Ashes team will be different, and more reliable.

The Powerplays should be set imo. ODI cricket is a batsmens game so the fielding team shouldn't choose when they bowl them imo.

1-10 and then 20-25 and 35-40 for the Powerplays.

These rules will benefit the strongest team (Australia) whereas the ICC should be making it harder for Australia so the cricket scene is tighter.

Oh someone shoot me with a dartgun in my left testicle. :(

Squiz would you like the honour?
