Im sorry but i dont think of 1 team outplaying the other as being all that entertaining. do you? did you find Lords as entertaining? so mabeye those matches were close and mabeye England didnt totally outplay the aussies?

OMG!!!! its not the fact that one team outplayed the other that made them entertaining! Its the fact THEY WENT TO THE WIRE!!!!!!

you havent even watched any of the last two matches have you?

The best way to get wickets cant be far off what vaughny did. He had 3 slips and 2 gullys, so he had fielders behind the bat in modertaion, but then spread the rest round the ring. And for certain players ppl on the hook etc!

Actually i have watched every test match and the highlights on Sky sports.

Also can you explain to my mentally ill tactical mind how many edges went through the slips right from the beginning of the innings. I think the spread slips is a good idea but the convectional slips should have been brought back in that situation.


So this is how the last 3 tests went then:


Lords- All Australia

Edgebaston:

Day 1- England
Day 2- England
Day 3- England
Day 4- Australia

Old trafford

Day-1 England
Day 2 -England
Day 3- England
Day 4- Rain
Day 5- Australia


This proves that Australia are a class team and that they are better than England. Australia have won 2 days compared to Englands 6 in the last 2 tests. Yes ENGLAND HAVE OUTPLAYED THEM. But could someone explain to me why england didnt win both matches easily??? Because Australia only had to win those 2 days to give England a hard time. What would happen if the next two tests are shared with 2 1/2 days to either side? Even you england fans have to admit it.


I only came to this thread to show you people that even though Australia are playing badly atm they are so good that they are giving u a hard time and that England arent the best in the world. I guess im just gonna have to wait till september to prove my point

It's a great Ashes because the two best teams in the world (England 1, Australia 2 ) are going head to head. The cricket is entertaining, their are so many twists. I think what we are seeing is England taking over the mantle of being the best test side in the world! Best way of getting wickets is to have a plan. Remember the Hayden plan, first ball wasn't it?

Remember, England have 5 good bowlers, Australia have 3!

Perhaps if Australia had bothered to play well for the rest of the days, they might win another test! Even Dennis Lillee has admitted the Aussie team are old and on a downward slope.

No, becaause they are not giving us a hard time...this is why your not making sense. England have dominated overall the last two tests. Ok Australia have had their moments(eg - Ponting at OT) but this is a team game, not for the individual. And if England went on to win this Ashes series they may not be best in the rankings, but im sure most would see them as the best.

As to your poor standard of captaincy..basically you cant fill every gap. The spread slips were the best option considering Australia were still playing shots. We had to have some men infront of the bat otherwise they may of made getting 400 runs in a day look easy! Things in cricket have to be done in moderation. AND THAT, is why you would not make a good captain, you are suggesting a full slip co-ordination from word go!

australia are getting old but i would like to see everybody who has been saying thats face if they win the ashes.

As to what you say about rankings i think India are the best in the world when they click and everybody is in form. when that happened against Pakistan we comprehensively beat them but then we got overconfident and cocky and lost.

Either way the series in India next year will be as interesting as the ashes for me

Yes you are meant to get them playing shots, but what im saying is that we had enough slips and gullys (3&2) for the edges, but also filled the other gaps in the field if they did time the shot, or miscue it in the air. You have to be more open-minded Annihilation66, you have to understand there is more than one way of getting a wicket.

Evn if India beat England in India they would not be better than them for the simple fact that England are now more proven. We have won more series than them in recent times!

Well what about the catches which went through the slips and could have won England the match. U can out fielders where u know the batsman has a weakness eg Hayden but have the rest in the slips

And the fact of the matter is - England have so far outperformed the Aussies in the Ashes. And the reason why we arent 2-1 up is simply because of bad luck.
