i think they should still give symond's an oppurtunity maybe not this series though.

Some good points about hayden. He's been a bit dissapointing but hes been looking good the last test and now with that hundred against Northants i think will go well next test. Langer and Hayden 200 opening partneship next test.

I would call Geraint Jones a part time keeper. The keeper in my rep team can do a better job than him. they can't afford that many missed chances but thats fine with me keep him in the team. and i don't think his catch that came off Strauss was that good.

I give g jones credit for taking that catch in the 2nd test , to take the last wicket and give england victory under pressure and very tense . G jones is a handy batsmen .

jones is a handy batsman but not really all that good. a specialist keeper who can graft together 30s and 40s is going to be worth more through his consistency with the gloves.

The catch in the 2nd test was the only good catch. He is probably good (my friend who supports England always say's this) but he's just keeping poor at the moment and he's English.

(I'm actually english - My mum and dad were born there)

the point is that he doesn't bat like a fullblooded batsman and doesnt keep like a proper keeper.

Jones is better than any keeper in english counties right now , he just needs time to adjust.

Read as come and go.

Wicketkeeper-batsman are definately the future of the game. I don't know much about Matt Prior, but I would definately have Jones in the team ahead of Read.

Exactly symonds can also plug one end with the bowl and stop England scoring runs. Him and Warne would go from one end and McGrath Lee and Tait would rotate at the other. Australia need to play another all rounder and i dont think Katich or clarkes bowling os good enough

And the fastest bowler in thw world hitting you with a bouncer isnt gonna hurt. Sure. Why dont u ask Strauss the same question.

Symonds has been tested in test cricket before, against Sri Lanka I think, and couldnt impress much.

Also I fully agree about Geraint Jones. He is the best wicket-keeper batsman in the country. Matt Prior is close, but Jones has hit a test match hundred, and three test match 50s. He has also hit some quickfire 30s and 40s in the end of the innings - this according to me is extremely crucial for a no.7 batsman - the ability to score runs quickly.
As a keeper, I do agree, he isnt as good as Warren Hegg or Chris Read. But he isnt as bad as some of you are potraying him to be. He has had just one bad summer, behind the stumps.

Jones remember is still relatively inexperienced at test level. He's only played for a year, I think though we are still to see the best of him. But quality player when he turns it on,

I think England are yet to produce a Wicket keeper batsman as good as Gilchrist. I think Jones could be as good but he has a lot of work to do on his batting and keeping to get anywhere near.
