Why does every article keep saying resembling the devastating 'Dizzy', if he has lost 10km/h it doesn't resemble the old devastating Dizzy. But pace or not I''m impressed by the way he has got his wickets. That definitely resembles the old Dizzy. I would love to put the speed gun on his pace now. *cough selectors*

If I were Ponting, I would make sure Mick Lewis never play any other match as long as I am captain.

I think there was an alterior motive on this one - Punter is seething at some of the selections he's had to deal with, I think he wanted to ensure this was Lewis's last match...I don't think he thought it would go as badly as it did for him though. The only reason a bowler should get hit for over 100 in 10 overs is if the captain is stupid enough to keep him bowling. Take Kallis for example - he was going at a similar rate, but smith was smart enough to deny him his last few overs.

If Punter had his way you'd see the exact same team we had in england. It is still our best combination. We've just proven that there's some really bad years in stall for us - so why not just prolong the good times for another couple of years with some proven performers? I'd rather see a completely useless team in a couple of years getting spanked than a team that is only bad because of poor bowling selections.

I had nightmares all night. I still can't believe it. It was an amazing game - everything went right for the batsmen. How many times did Ponting and Gibbs miscue shots that just cleared the fielder and rolled for four. How many times did bowlers give juicy half vollies or terrible half trackers. To get 430+ you need some serious luck, some seriously poor bowling and a seriously long batting lineup....and amazingly both teams had all that and more. I don't think we'll see that score broken for another decade at least.

i hope we break it again; against england or south africa
cant wait for the world cup its going to be a real close tournament. i hope windies do well

i agree this record will not be broken for a very very long time.

so many things had to go right for both teams for scores like that to be posted...so many things went so right and so wrong in each innings which was freaky.

it couldnt possibly all happen again any time soon.

I must say, I've lost a bit of respect for Graeme Smith after this match. His bowling was going at a lower rate than most others and he takes himself off to save his average. :D

Good choke by the Aussies though, makes them winning the 4th match almost bearable.

Just think how boring in comparison the match would have been with McGrath and Pollock playing. ;)

My to sack list:
All the selectors
Ponting as Captain
Lewis
Clark
Johnson

Anyone feel Henquries should tour Bangladesh? Our team is starting to go crap anyway, we may as well give him a shot. Lets see if his bowling can be of any use. He also has the big hitting for late in the inns not that we need that right now.

I agree with you about Lewis and Clark.

But Ponting should not be sacked as captain.
Who do you suggest captains the team.
Ponting's the best captain we got.

The bowlers really need to be looked at before the 07 world cup.

lewis same pace as clark = runs and more runs, dorey wasnt much better but at least he had decent accuracy and height, Dizzy swings it seams it and gets extra bounce, bring him in and Tait is unplayable as its either to wide or too perfect. Screw this whole mcgrath thing, Theres never going to be one like him, we need to go all out attack, Lee, Bracken, Tait, Dizzy, Hogg and Watson and we will win matches.

Who is the ****ing chokers now!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unbelievable match. One of the best ever ODIs I have ever seen in my life.

Congratulations to all SAF (Maxcarter,WildWil......sorry if I'm forgetting anyone) memorable day in the history of SAF cricket as well as world cricket.
Thanks cricket doctor

And I agree, if anything this is the worst ODI ever. Just a bunch of slogging on a terrible pitch. Its just not cricket. When the bowling is that bad its pretty boring.

The powerplays have got to go now.

How do you Australian and South Africans feel about having the top two ODI totals made off your attacks. lol, enjoy that. With the record of scoring the most runs also came the worse statistic of conceeding the most.

The Australian bowling attack at the moment is absolute ****. The South African one is better but bowled poorly and got smashed by good batting.
That is hilarious! Just because you Australians (not all of you like Duff,Lucky,aussie1st = cool) didn't win a huge scoring game you begin to think of any excuse to why you lost. That is just not cricket irrotev!

I would tone down on the language plese Wildwil if I was you mate. :(
He makes a good point though. I mean, some Aussie's on here are suggesting that the game was fixed because they lost, how sour can you get?

Also on the match, some of the catches were excellent so how anyone can say that it was just batting is beyond me.
