134 runs off 136 balls which is more than acceptable. Cricket Archive
Paine also averages 36 in OD cricket with a SR of 66 compared to Wade who averages 14 at a SR of 69 in OD cricket. Paine has been around longer and the selectors see him as a potential replacement for Haddin. Wade may step into the frame if he continues his form from last season. But the OD record alone is enough reason to pick Paine over Wade.
Fair enough then.
Wade has only played the 5 OD matches, however in 21 first class matches he averages 38.
I believe he may have made a few decent and quick scores in the recent Academy tour as well.
If Paine is going to be Australia's long term replacement then he MUST improve his strike rate otherwise he is going to have a negetive effect whenever he is at the crease
I'm taking you mean ODIs? I don't really see him as our future keeper in the ODIs unless as you say he lifts his run rate. Adam Crosthwaite probably is the next fastest scorer after Haddin unless Ronchi gets back but he needs to show much more consistency before hes even considered. I do hope Wade can show another side to his OD game as we really don't have anyone that is a good option.
I actually wouldn't mind seeing him open and push Paine down to 8. If he gets going he can really cause some damage especially against the spinners.
Johnson opening? It could work I spose.
