Australia vs England ODI Series - 7 matches - Sep 4 to Sep 20

134 runs off 136 balls which is more than acceptable. Cricket Archive

Paine also averages 36 in OD cricket with a SR of 66 compared to Wade who averages 14 at a SR of 69 in OD cricket. Paine has been around longer and the selectors see him as a potential replacement for Haddin. Wade may step into the frame if he continues his form from last season. But the OD record alone is enough reason to pick Paine over Wade.

Fair enough then.

Wade has only played the 5 OD matches, however in 21 first class matches he averages 38.

I believe he may have made a few decent and quick scores in the recent Academy tour as well.

If Paine is going to be Australia's long term replacement then he MUST improve his strike rate otherwise he is going to have a negetive effect whenever he is at the crease

Wade's a much better FC player. Definitely a future for him in the Test team.

I'm taking you mean ODIs? I don't really see him as our future keeper in the ODIs unless as you say he lifts his run rate. Adam Crosthwaite probably is the next fastest scorer after Haddin unless Ronchi gets back but he needs to show much more consistency before hes even considered. I do hope Wade can show another side to his OD game as we really don't have anyone that is a good option.

Johnson to finally do something with the bat in one day cricket? Australia need him that's for sure.

^Yea was amazed to see him hit it that well.
Ferguson :hpraise Boy he is consistent and always scores at near a run a ball. Loving seeing him attack the bowlers more as well.

And OMG Johnson hit another one.

No I mean List A one dayers.

Crosthwaite has a one day average of about 20 even though he can sometimes score quickly. Plus his wicketkeeping is really ordinary and he's a prick of a bloke as well.

Gutted for Ferguson, he really deserved a not out there and another boost to his average but thats just not his way and you certainly can't accuse him of average whoring.

Good opportunity for Johnson, his natural game suits ODIs, but he tends to come in late and have a hoick without first having a sighter. It may only take a couple of balls, but it makes all the difference.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing him open and push Paine down to 8. If he gets going he can really cause some damage especially against the spinners.

Johnson opening? It could work I spose.

We know hes a guy that needs time to get in so him coming in with 5 overs left isn't using his abilities well. And Johnson is showing just what he can do when he gets in. As opener he would also be in the powerplay and given how well he did just then, he could be just what we need.
