His best innings by a long shot, the only other time he has past 20 was when he was given time to get in. 249 is about par, once again the bowlers will have to bowl well to win us the game.
That's a good effort after losing the toss, many teams have folded up completely in similar conditions and England appeared to be feeling like they should have effected such an innings. 250 of course will take some sharp bowling to defend, but it's a score that can be bowled at.
Thanks to Johnson, because of him Aus could manage to reach 249,otherwise they would have been restricted to 225-230. Why D Hussey is not selected, he is a good middle order bastman, part-time spinner, good fielder.
I think the middle order is fairly decent on paper. Bring Ponting back in at 3, and it looks quite solid, they just need to perform.
I felt we let Australia get away, probably conceded 15 runs in poor fielding. Anderson looks very out of form with the ball, I'd be tempted to rest him for the last 3 ODIs/however many left when we win/lose the series.
It's a good pitch. We bowled well for most of the innings. 250 is very gettable.
Just too bad Lee can't solve his no ball problems. I haven't seen one free hit given by the English but already we have seen 1 by us. This is England's game to lose from here, there is absolutely nothing in this wicket and as usual I can't see where our next wicket is coming from.
1 isn't bad for us, we are the no-ball demons when it comes to planting the front foot (just give up 20cm of advantage and bowl a foot behind the line ffs, how hard is it?).
We are keeping the runs down so I'm not too worried at the moment, if we get Strauss I'll be more confident.
