Australia's Tour of India - 7 ODI's

Why is Irfan still ignored? :facepalm

I don't think his bowling is up to ODI level. Until he proves otherwise, he should not play. Since his comeback to ODI cricket in September 2007, he simply has not been taking enough wickets. His economy rate, in the period since September 2007, is 5.73 and yet the average remains high at 42.35.

Although I feel that technique coaching at the international level for batting and bowling should not be done, I do feel that we need a coach like Julian Fountain who can teach correct throwing biomechanics and correct technique in the field.

Indeed. The main thing which will be our undoing in future ODIs is that we are prone to collapse, due to Sehwag's agressive style and the inexperience (or should that be youth) of the lower order. It is by playing them at the highest level for a long period of time that we hope to help them mature as batsmen and gain this responsibility. Regarding Tyagi, from what I have seen, he is quite raw but talented. I do see a risk though, due to his style of bowling and the Indian tendancy to never learn. He has some pace and has the potential to rip the odd ODI team apart - this may set in motion the classic style of overhyped, overplayed and then over-and-done-with.

This is the first time I am hearing about this 'Julian Fountain' thing. Sounds pretty interesting. But its again similar to the promise that Greg Chappell made about changing India in this way, that way and all. But everything falls flat because when the media gets a hang of it, they blow it up to humongous proportions and it becomes so hard to keep up to it. And also, the players after a while start getting into their comfort zones and dont like coming of it even if they have to do so. So I hope its not another 'Chappell type' thing. I wish to see a good fielding coach who can lift the current level of Indian fielding (though he cant work magic, he can atleast make it function at optimum level which is right now lacking in very good measure). We have good fielders like Yuvraj Singh, Kohli, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Uthappa and the athletic guys like RP Singh, Sreesanth make so many mistakes these days. They all need a good fielding coach to push them in the right direction

I think this is gonna be a great series. Both teams missing their key players. India missing Rahul Dravid & Zaheer Khan and Australians missing Michael Clarke & Nathan Bracken.

Can't wait for the action to begin (on TV). Elsewhere (read: here), the action has already begun. And what is funny is to see Indians picking on Indians and Australians picking on Australians :p

I feel this series is going to be controversial in nature especially with what is happening right now in Australia with regards to the treatment meted out to the Indian students studying there. The Aussie players should expect to cope some stick. Its unfortunate, but it will happen. Anyways, if that aggro spills over to on the field, it will be great for us, the spectators. Seriously need fireworks on the field. Miss ya Sreesanth! I will miss Hayden and Gilchrist too. What lovely days they were.... Nice to see atleast Lee back in there.

Rahul Dravid wont be missed as much as we missed Sehwag and Yuvi in the CT. I know you are a hardcore Dravid fan, but he will never be missed in ODI's and T20's.

Never missed in ODIs?! Where have you been the countless times he has saved us from situations like 0/1, 11/2, 21/3 etc. He is Rahul Dravid, Mr. Dependable!

He will be missed no matter what. We'll see who'll be missing who when we are 11/3 with our 'great' Yuvraj gone and MS Dhoni being crap again.

Inspite of the current world's top two ODI batsmen:sarcasm, Dhoni and Yuvraj being the 'so-called' crap batsmen, our ODI record has been blemishless in the past season (or even more!). We lost the CT but we have been among the top two ODI sides in the world in the last season. And we lost the CT when Dravid came back and our ODI heavyweights Sehwag and Yuvraj went out (I am not holding the CT loss to Dravid, its just an example to prove our superb ODI record). We wont miss Dravid in ODI's. He can save us from a few tight situations, but we wont miss him so much that a series can be won or lost by it.

Just the usual media taking things out of context. Lee said we would like to achieve a 7-0 whitewash which every player playing in this series wants to achieve.

Indian media is going to make this the battle cry now.

Good good good good... Now someone from the Indian camp is going to retaliate. Maybe Bhajji again (or Yuvraj).

Of course! They have to do it. Thats what they are champions at.:p And I wouldnt mind it at all.

What would an India vs Aus series be without some spice. Lee most definitly will be chirpy in the field. Thing about Brett Lee in India is that people cheer him on too, so you can't tell sometimes who they are cheering for, Lee or the batsman.

Lee will find it really challenging to bowl to the Indian batsmen on slow and unhelpful Indian wickets. On these wickets, the likes of Raina and Kohli will also relish the pace that Lee offers. Lee must vary his pace a lot or he will get around some good stick. Sehwag vs Lee and Tendulkar vs Lee are the big battles at the top of the order. Mouth watering! I wish Ishant is played coz we can see the Ishant vs Ponting along with the classic 'Bhajji vs Ponting' thing.

Lee has more fans in India than in Australia. :laugh

Lee has already bowled well during the Champions League so there is no reason why he can't continue that form on to this series.
