Australia's Tour of India - 7 ODI's

For me its anyone rather than Lankans at the moment. You talk of India-Australia overkill, we will be playing against each other fifth time later this year in less than 2 years.

I will even watch us play Bangladesh more enthusiastically.

Michael Clarke (C) - Bat
Callum Ferguson (VC) - Bat
Cameron White - Bat/Bowl
Ben Rohrer - Bat
Phillip Hughes - Bat
David Hussey - Bat/Bowl
Michael Klinger - Bat
Tim Paine (WK) - Bat
Moises Henriques - All
Steven Smith - All
Mitchell Johnson - Bowl/Bat
Ben Laughlin - Bowl/Bat
Aaron Heal*/Xavier Doherty* - Bowl
Clint McKay - Bowl
Brett Geeves - Bowl/Bat

Don't think Klinger is suited to the shorter form, a bit too soon to pick Rorher whose hasn't even played a full season. I would keep Hauritz and bring over a 2nd spinner, he should be getting experience in Indian conditions for the next Test series there.

Impossible! Srikanth has lost faith in Badri and Dhoni has no faith in Nayar. Neither will play. Sehwag will be fit for this, and he will take Nayar's place in the current setup.

In that case, swap Klinger for Rogers, Rohrer for Bailey and...Hauritz for Smith? I dunno, make the squad a 16 man squad and chuck Hauritz in there. :)

I think Rogers is on the Hodge list with the selectors so even with us picking the most outrageous list some of the guys above would be more hope of getting in than him. Could pick Quiney who is an explosive opener and had a pretty good season. Birt is another. Just annoying that they are 27, wouldn't mind them being a bit younger as they won't have too much longer before they get overlooked for ODI selection due to age.

Haha, I was kidding about the split state squad, but if I were to pick a realistic 15 man squad based on youth/future, I'd go for something like;

Michael Clarke (C) - Bat
Callum Ferguson (VC) - Bat
Cameron White - Bat/Bowl
Ben Rohrer - Bat
Phillip Hughes - Bat
David Hussey - Bat/Bowl
Michael Klinger - Bat
Tim Paine (WK) - Bat
Moises Henriques - All
Steven Smith - All
Mitchell Johnson - Bowl/Bat
Ben Laughlin - Bowl/Bat
Aaron Heal*/Xavier Doherty* - Bowl
Clint McKay - Bowl
Brett Geeves - Bowl/Bat

Clarke, Ferguson, White, Dussey and Johnson for experience. Hughes could get some form under his belt, Klinger could open or I could even see him in a middle order role. One of Henriques or Smith could play, or Smith could play in place of Heal. Geeves has played a couple of ODIs and done decently, and can chip in with the bat (99* x2 anyone?). Laughlin as you said would be better than Siddle, not to mention that catch he took against South Africa was kind of epic, just on the edge of the boundary. Rohrer's decent in ICC, and I saw he made like 95 or something the other day. McKay's just a star.

Granted, we'd lose 7-0 and it's not even likely a squad similar to this will be picked (Mussey, Lee and Ponting will most likely play), but it'd be good for youth. Just my thoughts.

* - I have no fliping clue how these guys went last season, I think Heal went alright but didn't even know if Doherty played haha

White > Ferguson for vice captain. Otherwise, apart from perhaps another keeper, not a bad squad.

Here is my 16 man squad for the ODI Series..

Dhoni*+
Shewag
Yuvraj
Sachin
Dravid
Gambhir
Raina
Zaheer Khan
Harbhajan
Ishant
Nehra
Nayar
Yusuf
Praveen Kumar
Badrinath
Mishra

No need of extra keeper as if needed Dravid can keep and Nayar and Badri must be given a chance..

Yuvi wont play 4-5 matches. Count him out. Sachin will also break down after 3-4 games.

So we're setting up the spikes about this already? :D

7 pages. Interesting posts there. :)

Are Viru, Yuvraj, Zaheer looking to be fit for this series?

If not -

Sachin Tendulkar
Gautam Gambhir
Rahul Dravid
Virat Kohli
S Badrinath
MS Dhoni
Abhishek Nayar
Harbhajan Singh
Amit Mishra
Praveen Kumar
Ashish Nehra

S Sreesanth
Praggy Ojha
Dinesh Karthik

Thoughts?

Im guessing the selectors will be picking Jadeja after his 80 odd knock in the Irani Trophy.Damn Badri isnt going to get a chance, until he starts scoring when hes in the selectors' radar.

Jadeja might spice up our fielding. But I am not sure if he will really be needed because we want a fast bowling allrounder. Bhajji, Mishra, Piyush all can bat. We need an allrounder who is a medium pacer. Jadeja has to bat lower down only and he cant do the big hits (he simply cant clear the fence in confident fashion). We dont want him now.

Again as I said in some other thread, Badri is not going to make it by any chance. In the Irani cup game, he failed both innings. When he doesnt get a chance even after scoring well, how will he get one when he fails? Viru will be fit. Yuvraj should be fit from the 3rd or 4th ODI. Dont know how Zak is shaping up (maybe he might miss the whole series).

We have a medium pace allrounder right on our nose in Nayar. Come on.

If two innings are going to break Badri's career, I have no words for you. He'll have another prolific season, there is absolutely no doubt in that.

Cricketman added 0 Minutes and 57 Seconds later...

And Jadeja sucks. His bowling is meek and his batting isn't anything special. He needs some time in the domestic circuit.

Plus, he's too much of a bits and pieces player. We have specialists who are better suited for the team XI.
