Bangladesh tour of England, May-July 2010

It's only 6 an over, that's the point of his run-rate, he's more than capable of upping the rate when needed, he's been holding down an end when the other batsman play stupid shots, barring Colly they've all flayed a bit for their wicket.

His strike rate is 60, that's not good enough, irrespective of the situation. This is a good pitch with no notable demons, this attack, although they've bowled pretty well, is really not as good as we're making them look, and Trott is more than capable of batting far quicker than this. He's putting the tail under pressure, and if we lose another wicket then things begin to look even worse. If he constructs his innings perfectly, rapidly accelerates from here and wins us the game scoring an unbeaten century, I'll give him some praise. Going to be very hard work from here though, I just think he's put himself, and the rest of the team under unnecessary pressure. But maybe I'm just biased because I hate watching him bat? :p

One more wicket has taken. Two to go. Actually three if Bell comes.

I think that Trott's done decently. Yes he's been slow but England desperately need to not lose a wickets and hes done that.

As long as he can hit out when we need it towards the end I'm happy.

This is the title on the frontpage of cricinfo:

'Bangladesh close in on victory'

I think its way to early to say that Bangladesh are closing in on victory.

I expect England to win it tbh.

See this annoys me. Trott's suddenly been able to find the singles and the 2's. Why couldn't he do this 25 overs ago? There was no need whatsoever for him to be striking at 50. This could have been over by now.

It's getting tense now with 7 overs to go and 51 runs needed.

England have taken the batting powerplay. I wonder whether they will attack.

Required Run Rate up to 7.78 now. I really don't know how we've allowed it to get that high chasing 237. This pitch really isn't bad for batting at all. We should have made this total with ease.

Maybe? :laugh

To say "irrespective of the situation" is quite naive, surely every batsman has to be judged on the situation?

The flashy shots which have put us under pressure need to be criticised, not the only man who is in and looks solid. It's slow, yes, but we're chasing 237!

If we were chasing 150 on a real turgid wicket against a good attack I'd be happy with Trott's innings, we're not. We're chasing 237 on a good wicket against a, lets be honest here, dire attack, Trott should be scoring far quicker than he has. He might yet get us home, but it should have been a heck of a lot easier than this. The RRR should never have been able to get up to over 7 in this chase.

look most of Eng batsmen failed today aren't they facing a dire attack? he has done a good thing that he kept playing when others were falling at least saved wicket from one end
