Blast to the Past - 1st ODI Australia v England, celebrating 40 years

David Hussey just sealed his spot for the World Cup. :lol

Good reward for Lee who has been our best bowler today. Good slower ball the ball before and then gets him there.

Lee get's he's first wicket of the match. After the poor start, Australia are fighting back here. Now we just need Bell out early, otherwise he is gonna hurt us.

Australia seem to come across as airy-fairy vaginas. Phil Hughes saying he was "hit pretty hard" by Botham calling him a cheat, going to functions the morning before test matches, Clarke apologising for not walking, no resilience or heart.

They need to harden up, show some discipline, stop farting around, pull their heads in and start focusing on beating these poms because i'm sick of seeing us lose. At this stage the aussie state sides would beat the "australian" team.

White really should start bowling again, his top spinners would give us another bowling option which the selectors seem to want. This side certainly gives Clarke a few options.

Problems for England in spite of the run rate. It's not a Twenty20; it's worth getting batsmen out for 30 or even 50, because it's easy enough to get bowled out.

David Hussey has been a handful today. He might not even bowl out his 10 overs! His value if picked for the World Cup would be very handy with his off spinners on the slow and low wickets of the subcontinent. Maybe he could even be our next Test spinner? :p

We've done really well to peg it back here. Smith's bowling well.

Haddin isn't helping his cause, missing a few stumping chances today.

What hope do you have when the guy with the gloves can't catch the ball?

Eat your heart out Akmal, Haddin is showing you how its done. Haddin spot has to come under question after this poor effort, his batting isn't good enough to make up for 3 missed stumpings.

Those missed stumping chances are hurting us now. I guess I spoke to soon about Hussey's bowling.

A bit harsh to see Smith taken out of the attack to bring Johnson back in. He then starts with too wides :facepalm

The problem with these three quicks is that they are all wicket takers. None of them can hold up an end and bowl cutters, like Bracken has done in the past.

Geez some players are trying to lose a WC spot today. Johnson having an absolute shocker, Bollinger looking pedestrian and less said about Haddin the better.

This is just the kind of situation Bracken would have been very useful. I think this has been brought up before but has he retired??
