Story Brendon vs Callum vs Jono - A Worcestershire Battle

I think mine's still under 3.

A good win for you there though :) Maybe I should bowl Mitchell more...

Mitchell's taken eight wickets, in his last 11.1 overs for me. :D

My stars go above three when I bring Ben Smith into my playing XI, but TBH I'd prefer to leave him out and give the youth a go. Without him my playing XI's exactly three stars, I wonder what it would be with Steven Smith in it. :spy

I just realised both times in my last two matches, he has taken the last four wickets of their innings.

Can't play a match tonight, going out for dinner, then round to a friend's for drinks. I'll catch up tomorrow

2 week holiday though :happy:happy

I'm going out soon as well, so if I don't post a match tonight I'll post two tomorrow.

MOTM:

Alex Kervezee (171* and 17*)

Comments:

It was a game we should have probably won after having them at 6/89 but Greg Smith hit a century to give them a total of 308. Kervezee batted superbly with an unbeaten 171. Wheeldon batted well with him with a 50 while Al Hasan and Adler both scored runs with 48 and 38 respectively. We failed to pick up quick wickets though in the second innings and had to settle for a draw.

I didn't need to play so many bowlers, but since Arif's been doing so well with the bat, he'd probably be better than anyone else I would play.

Worcestershire win by an innings and 33 runs

I honestly can't believe what happened in this match. When Derbyshire scored 444 in their first innings, I felt that this match was destined for a draw, and even more so when we kept piling on the runs, but they collapsed in the second innings. It wasn't a good bowling effort from us initially, with a lot of their batsmen getting starts, and the were going at a decent pace too. Mitchell, Solanki and Kervezee didn't score much but when Ali joined up with Kervezee, they went crazy. Ali smashed his first double century (222 off 319) to have scored 800 FC runs so far, in 16 innings. He's having an outstanding season, while Shakib scored an aggressive century (106 off 142) at the other end. When he fell, Manuel and Stack both scored half centuries to keep Ali company. At this point it definitely looked to be heading towards a draw as we were into the third session on the third day. The Derbyshire batsmen just crumbled however, with Mason, Richardson and Shakib being the best bowlers. It was an outstanding performance from the side, and they go into the next few matches with high hopes. We got 23 points from this match.

████, great win Chewie!
What knocks from Ali and Shakib, and your bowlers done the rest on a tough final day pitch.

I'll post two matches in a few hours time, so you guys can just post your next match now if you want.

I dunno how that happened. And we should have another easy win against the Unicorns next up too :)

MOTM:

Chris Murtagh (109 off 116)

Comments:

We had them at 5/79 but a 120 run partnership between Murtagh and Akram got them to a good score. Adler and Mitchell got the team on track to win with 74 and 67 respectively while Kervezee and Stafford got the team across the line with 20* and 32* respectively. We now sit in second place with 5 wins and 2 losses from our second games but somehow have a negative NRR.
