Surrey win by 3 wickets

When we were bowled out for 119, I didn't have any hopes that we were able to get anywhere close to a win. The pitch was obviously quite a terrible one however with Richardson taking three wickets in his first spell to bring the match to a rather tense conclusion, but the experience of Batty got Surrey over the line at the end. It looked to be a one-sided battle early on, with Mitchell departing first ball, and Solanki following shortly afterwards. Stack put up some resistance with Ali but in an attempt to up the tempo, Ali fell to Nel which sparked a massive collapse.

Overall ATM:

1. Brendon - 1st, 2nd, 2nd
2. Callum - 1st, 2nd, 3rd
3. Jono - 1st, 3rd, 3rd

If the Challenge Trophy stays how it is ATM with one game remaining, and Jono takes over Brendon in the County Championship, we'll all by tied on one 1st, one 2nd, and one 3rd.

I'm surprised I'm not in last for FC, lol. I'll probably lose this match anyway so I'm just going to try and go for all the bonus points.

The longer format requires more skill, hence why I'm better at it. :rolleyes

Comments:

What a win. A good opening stand between Adler and Mitchell before Adler went for a run a ball 21 but then we fell to 3/65. Mitchell and Solanki put their heads down though, putting on a 126 run partnership before we lost 3 wickets in an over, Daryl Mitchell out for 87, Vikram Solanki out for 61 and Choudry ran out for 1. We didn't do too well after that as we were bowled out for 219. So it was all Mitchell and Solanki, with the next best score being 21.

We got off to the perfect start with the ball though, Arif bowling a double wicket maiden first up and after that, we never looked back as we had them at 75/8, Mason with 4/5 off 5 overs at that stage before Sajid Mahmood hit 56 down at number 10 while Cross helped with 39* before Kervezee took the final 2 wickets, with Anderson out for a duck as we recorded a great win over Lancashire to go through to the finals, finishing 4 points above Sussex in second. We play Northamptonshire in the Challenge Trophy semi finals now.

wow. I have no idea how you're so good at OD matches but congrats on getting through to the finals :) :thumbs

who knows? Normally I go ████ in One Day matches. I just had 2 batsman normally that performed each match. I went out to attack, so run rate normally wasn't going to be a problem and I just needed a few players to score big. The bowling was pretty superb though. I always have the 5 bowling options plus Mitchell and Kervezee when needed normally, although I did have 6 normal bowlers when I played both Al Hasan and Wheeldon.

I had written out a paragraph here but then I accidentally refreshed the page and I can't be bothered writing it out again. Suffice to say, we lost.

Points:

MOTM:

Daryl Mitchell (2 for 40 off 7 overs and 78 runs off 99 balls)

Reaction:

Finally a win, and that keeps us out of last place in our group!

Daryl Mitchell was the standout with both bat and ball, he got hit for 14 off his seventh over, so before that he'd bowled six overs and taken two for 26.

I decided to keep wickets in hand with the bat, so we went into the final 20 overs needing seven an over with all ten wickets in hand, and we had two set batsmen at the wicket. Alan Darbon played a blinder of a knock, scoring 43 at more than a run a ball, and in the end we got home pretty easily.

lol I really suck at OD matches

When something like that happens to me (conceding 170 off 25), it's primarily because I'm staying aggressive too long. I'm now firmly of the belief that zero bowling aggression is the only way to fly in limited-overs - other than to brand-new batsmen or total bunnies.

The other problem I sometimes have is keeping too many close catchers and single-savers. Should probably have no close catchers to a batsman who's made 30, and at most two in saving the single. If you're consistently going for six or more an over in ones and twos, you may have to reconsider (hasn't happened to me yet). Always keep in mind how much worse a boundary per over would be.

Hope that helps. Sorry if advice from strangers (and for all I know I could be a noob compared to you:p) was the last thing you wanted.:)

lol thanks

The only things I change are who's bowling :p Sometimes put bowling aggression down too. But oh well the OD season's over. I'm slightly better at FC games, but that's normally because I prepare batting tracks and get draws...

Worcestershire won by an innings and 42 runs

Points:

Worcestershire 23
Middlesex 5

MOTM:

Stuart Adler (199 off 381)

Comments:

Stafford was out with an injury bringing Ali into the side. We got off to a shocking start as they battled through to 3/244 but Shantry and Al Hasan took 4 wickets a piece to bowl them out for 359. Going into bat, Mitchell made 38 before he got out. Kervezee only managed 15 and Solanki finally went for 81, his highest score this season in FC cricket back in the side. Al Hasan went soon after for 30 and we were 4/185, the match still hanging in the balance, Middlesex probably just ahead at that stage. Adler and Ali took the game away from them though, Ali scoring 157 before getting out and Adler battled through to 199 before he got out to Udal, bringing the declaration on 585/6, Wheeldon finishing 20*.

The match seemed destined for a draw with only a day and a half to bowl them out, and without Imran Arif, our strike bowler who was injured in the first innings. Shantry and Mason bowled really well in their opening spell, having them at 5/59 by the end of the day. Maisey and Murtagh fell early on day 4 before Udal and Malan put on a strong resistance before Udal got out to Al Hasan for 32 before Al Hasan took the final 2 wickets, including that of Malan for 72. So a very emphatic win in our second last FC match. Bad news is that Imran Arif will miss the Challenge Trophy semi-final through injury.
