Story Brendon vs Callum vs Jono - A Worcestershire Battle

:eek::eek::eek::eek:

How is that possible, Hedger?

haha Callum, I would never do that :spy :p

Yeah, Stuart Adler is a very good regen keeper batsman. Although I wonder what I would have scored if Stafford was playing as well.

Reaction:

I think Ben Scott scoring 112 and Shaun Udal scoring 63 sums up our first class season, as we secure our tenth draw in 15 first class matches.

Yet again our batting fails, despite on paper having a stronger batting line-up than Brendon. The match was very evenly poised, and even with five hours of rain on the final day, it could have been interesting if it wasn't for their massive eighth wicket partnership.

Towards the back end of the season my three main pace bowlers who've played in every match have really started to struggle, only taking on wicket from 62 overs between them.

Shakib continues to do wonders with the bat, this time scoring 32 and 6 (both times out), god knows how he just keeps on doing so flingen little for me with the bat. His decent bowling continues to keep his place in the side as very much a bowling all-rounder.

Anyway, only one more first class match to go for me, I think I'm guaranteed of finishing last (despite only losing three out of 15 matches), so it may just be a case of going out and having a bit of fun.

Lol at Andrew Strauss not playing for England in your game. :lol

IIRC we have to wait for Brendon now, as he made it into the CT semis.

Comments:

What a match!!! Bowling first, Mason got us off to a beautiful start taking 3 wickets in his opening spell. Hall and Peters fought back after that but Al Hasan's double blow had Peters and Boje back in the pavilion. Mitchell then removed the skipper for 57 but White made 51 before Mitchell also got him out as they made 194/8 from their 40 overs.

Mitchell and Adler got us off to a great start with the bat, a 64 run opening stand off 47 balls before Mitchell got out for 31 off 30 balls. Solanki only made 5 though and Adler went soon after for his quickfire 59 coming off only 40 deliveries but we had already lowered the RRR by a lot. Choudry and Ali weren't able to support Kervezee for long but Kervezee stuck in there but lost wickets at regular rates as we fell to 8/185 with 3 overs remaining, Mason and Kervezee at the crease now. Kervezee decided that he needed to get them across the line and took control of the strike turning down an easy single but then smacking a four next ball and then hitting a single off the fifth ball of the 48th over so 5 off the over and 5 runs needed off the last 2 overs. He still didn't take the risk of giving Mason the strike though as he only scored one run on the next over so the match was going to be a close one. Kervezee played and missed the second ball of the over before knocking the ball into the gap for 2 and then hitting a single to level things up with 2 balls to play, but Mason was on strike. The 5th ball was a dot ball and now it all came down to this ball. I'm not sure what would have happened if we didn't score a run, or worse lose a wicket but it didn't matter in the end as Mason gave it his all smashing it down through mid on for the boundary to take Worcestershire through to the Challenge Trophy final. Unbelievable!!! Luckily Arif will be back for that match as well. We have one County Championship game before that though.

Comments:

Not the best performance but came out with a draw. After choosing to bowl first, our pace bowlers failed and only Shakib Al Hasan's 7 wicket haul kept them to under 500. We didn't get off to the best start with the bat when Solanki got out cheaply but Mitchell and Kervezee got things back on track before Mitchell was finally dismissed for 79. After that, all the batsman failed, not one batsman scoring over 15 but Kervezee battled through, before he was the 9th wicket to fall, out for a great 168 as we were bowled out for 320. Nash fired for Sussex as they got to 245/3 before giving us a little under a full day to get around 380. We opted to battle out the day for a draw, led by Adler with an unbeaten century while Kervezee again played a superb innings, a well fought 66 as he took the MOTM award for his great performance in both innings. We still finished last though, 27 points behind 8th place. The Challenge Trophy final now though and it would be one spectacular match.

Shame to see Chris Whelan had such a bad year. As his economy rate suggests, he's better than that! Ben Smith likewise, although I suppose in his case it might be old-age :p

Whereas, Richard Jones! Oh dear!! To think that some half-way decent players like Knappett (formerly of Worcs) and Hardinges etc. have gone the way of the Unicorns (:lol), yet Worcestershire cling to this Jones character as if for dear life!

Comments:

Moeen Ali, you son of a *****. On course to win the match but an extremely slow innings left us just short. Mitchell was superb with the bat. Wheeldon's promotion to #3 as a pinch hitter didn't work too well although he bowled really well. Despite our loss, I am really pleased with the teams efforts in this competition although it would have been nice to win a competition. Mitchell had a superb season, especially in One Day cricket where he scored 746 runs @ 67.82 with 4 centuries to go with his 1200 runs in FC cricket. A great season for the young batsman. He should be in for a great career over the next 5 seasons.

Sorry, my computer broke yesterday while I was playing my match.
It seems to be working fine now, so I'll definitely post it along with my stats tomorrow, as I have nothing planned.

Unlucky with the loss there in the final.
