Reaction:

Finally my batsmen do something worthwhile, while my bowlers almost find a way to 'F' it up.

We're still five points outside the top four, and have a massive NRR deferential, so it's getting to the point where we can probably only afford to drop one of our remaining seven matches.

What a cricketen joke...

There's not much nothing I can do when I stick them on max aggression the whole innings, and they come up short with nine wickets still in the shed.

That all but ends our T20 campaign, barring a miracle. I think if I win my final six matches I still should make it, but lets not kid ourselves, we all know that's not going to happen, with the amount of BS I've been receiving this season.

Worcestershire win by 5 wickets

The bowling effort wasn't the greatest but we did enough initially to restrict them, with Ireland and Rankin bowling pretty well at the start. Richardson and Arif bowled tight lines, but Komasaru was pretty expensive for once. At the end though, the bowlers strayed slightly from their plans, with Ireland and Rankin being smacked in their last over by Howgego and Harrison, with Northamptonshire ending up on 175/5. Mitchell and O'Brien did well at the start, but couldn't continue their good form, as Aimson and Ali came to the crease. Both kept the scoreboard ticking over, but the RRR was starting to get higher and higher. Kelly came and went, but Kervezee and Arif were the perfect finishers, both scoring at faster than two runs a ball, to take us home with a couple of overs remaining. We are now in fifth position, behind Durham who have a match in hand. It's going to be a close finish for the semi finals.

Comments:

What a load of BS. Boyd Rankin went for 35 runs in 2 overs but the biggest BS was Jake Needham, their #10 batsman scoring 15* off 4 balls to finish the game. Sitting right on the line at the moment in 4th place but have a great NRR.

Now you know how I've been feeling through most of my T20 matches. :p

Worcestershire win by 5 wickets

What a match! My fast bowlers were getting the smack everywhere, with Hughes and Durston scoring hard and fast at the top. Their half centuries were both at a S/R of greater than 150, and it looked like we were gonna chase something really massive. Komasaru struck however, and despite some aggressive batting from Sadler and Clare at the end, they didn't score too much... considering what they were threatening. Mitchell and O'Brien got us off to an aggressive start, but they both fell early, leaving the newly fit Sehwag, and Aimson at the crese. Initially, Aimson was the aggressor, reaching his half century first, but when he was gone, Sehwag began hitting out. His 79 came off 47 balls and were a large reason why we won the match. It was getting a bit close getting to the final few overs, with Ali batting surprisingly slowly, and Kervezee getting a golden duck, but Arif was able to squeeze a four off the last ball of the match to win (last over bug). We are still in fifth place however, and with a rather poor NRR which we will need to fix in the upcoming matches.

Comments:

Well I didn't think we'd get a win as it was a batsman's paradise. In the end we chased down their total with about an hour and a half left.

Well we won the toss and on a flat pitch on a hot day, we elected to bat first. Although the batsman made it look like a bowlers paradise with some stupid shots as we fell to 3/57. Ali and Mitchell put on a handy partnership though before Mitchell finally fell for 62. Ali and Adler put on a 97 run partnership then before Ali fell short of what would have been a great century, out for 88. Wheeldon only managed one but Flowers joined Adler at the crease and hit a stunning hundred in a record 254 run partnership, Adler finishing 168* with Flowers on 110* before we declared.

The bowling wasn't that great but Flowers did well in both innings and got some support from Rankin and Russell in the second innings to bowl them out and set 110 for victory with a session and a half left, I let Moore and Mitchell go for it and they did, Moore scoring 22 off 29 while Mitchell scored 51 off 92 as rain now threatened the match. Kervezee and Stafford got us over the line though without any interference from rain. Regarding the 254* run partnership between Adler and Flowers, if I had let them score 3 more runs, they would have broken the 7th wicket partnership record for Worcestershire.

Match Drawn

A match we really should have won ended in a draw thanks to some poor bowling in their second innings. Solanki showed why he should be in the side more often, with 90 at the top, while Mitchell and Aimson failed. Ali was in imperious form though, scoring 175 off 255 balls, and he was ably supported by O'Brien who also got a half century, and Kervezee. This ensured that we got the maximum batting points. Our bowling was pretty good as well, except for a slight stutter in getting their tail out. Finn found some form, with a five wicket haul, while Rankin and Ireland were tidy. Following on, Bairstow and Wainwright but up a good resistance and no matter what we did, we couldn't get them out. Finn got injured in trying, and once Komasaru finally removed them, Rashid and Gale set in for the long haul, and we were prevented from winning a match that we had in the bag at one point. We are now still second from the bottom, well clear of Somerset.

haha, Ali's also in great form for me.

And also, Mitchell got himself injured for a few weeks so it's unlikely he will play in any more of the T20s.

Ali's my third reserve batsman. :lol

I think he's only played two matches for me this season.

Comments:

What an easy win. The bowlers did really well to restrict them to only 150 and we chased it down easily with handy contributions from Moore and AB at the top of the order before Stafford blasted a quickfire 75* to get us over the line easily with just over 5 overs to spare.

And it's that awesome time of year again, with new youths being promoted to the side. If you remember last season, we had Adler and Stafford who became key players already, Stafford averaging 40 in FC cricket and 87.8 in OD cricket and Adler already with 3 FC centuries, 1181 runs @ 56.24 and a decent OD average of 27. We have 3 new players though, 21 year old batsman, Vic Clarkson who has an average of 33.57 in the 2nd team, Jeff Norris, a solid opening batsman, at 23 years of age and averaging 45 in the 2nd team. Christopher Pears was the other youth coming through, a 19 year old right arm fast bowler, who looks to be a really gun quick and his second team bowling average of 20.49. He is definately the most promising of the 3 and will be looking for an explosive end to this season.

MOTM:

Simon Katich (130 not out off 69 balls)

Reaction:

Wow, how the cricket did we win that. Finally something goes my way.

At one stage Katich was 100 off 42, so off his last 27 balls he only scored 30 runs. In the first ten overs of their innings only one over went for under eight runs, while off the last ten overs in their innings no overs went for over eight runs.

Where the cricket has Eric Matthews been hiding? He failed in his first two T20 matches this season, then I only bring him back this match because I decided to rest Mitchell and Darbon, and he pulls off an absolute blinder. Raval continues to be unpredictable, playing a brilliant knock to get us in a position where we could win the match from.

Davies continues to be our unsung hero, this time only conceding 30 runs from his four overs, and taking two wickets for only one run in the final oer of their innings.

J Friend has joined us, he's a wicket-keeper with a second team average of 44, which is only one less than my current wicket-keeper Jeff Ingram. My second youth team player to join us is J Flynn who's a RMF bowler with a second team average of 22, which is one less than both Richardson and Arif.

ooh new players! Mine are going to be terrible since I didn't put any money into the second team :p
