Cons of Brian Lara Cricket

You're syntactically incorrect. I think what you mean to say is "history has shown us that that has not been the case.
What you probably mean is - *you* think this will not be the case.
In which case, its just your opinion and I don't share that opinion.

Anyways, this thread is about the Cons of BLIC. Speaking on the topic --
1. Poor graphics. What good is gameplay alone. You need a good combination
of both. BLC 99 had good gameplay. If there are no graphics improvement,
whats the point of the new game. You may as well keep playing BLC 99
.. or pacman ;) However, some games do go against this trend. eg.
the GTA series. But, they do produce slightly better graphics for PC than
consoles.
2. No Advance shot. This is terrible. So it has no chance of showing the
footwork. You don't need to smash the ball out of the park. But you know,
prance down the wicket and stroke it along the ground. Thats a realistic
shot. Batting in Cricket is about footwork too and a game needs to capture
all aspects of it. Reverse sweep is so rare, yet, it should be included.
3. The Batting animation is off. Its looking unrealistic. Fielders and bowlers'
legs move at a rapid pace. Again, its animation is not proper.
4. All bowling appears to be at the same speed irrespective of fast/spin etc.
Not realistic.

Now, points 2,3,4 refer to gameplay which brings a dampener to BLIC.
However, I still will buy it as its a rare occurrence and I will surely derive joy from it. ( as I will be buying EA Cricket 2005 as well getting possibly more joy from it. )

obviously cricket 2005 would give a lot more joy to cricket lovers.
atleast ea sports games are an improvisation over their earlier games.

codemasters ,on the other hand(i still cannot say that that there is no improvisation as i have not played the game)

but their graphics are crappy....reminds me of Ashes 97 by EA.

finally the tv graphics reminds me of the recent doordarshan graphics.
even the original BLC graphics are better.

This post above and the one above it are FOS, Cricket 2005 will bring more joy to Cricket lovers??? don't make me laugh!...have you seen the Cricket 2005 video? if so did you notice how slow and boring it is?

did u notice the same old commentry? how is that improving on the old games? the batsman gets given out LBW, the ball goes off to covers like it came off the middle of the bat!

White sight screens in ODI, still from Cricket 2002! hows that improving on older versions? the list goes on!

BLIC 2005 is a new game, which seems a lot faster and gameplay looks a lot more in-depth. BLIC graphics are the same as BLC 99??? again FOS! the graphics in the gameplay video were fine, the animations are brilliant!

It's ok for you to like Cricket 2005 more than BLIC 2005 but don't say it will bring more joy to Cricket lovers untill you have played both games ;)

Well IMO game speed aint that big a matter !! We can always use Xspeed or stuff like that !!

Well i am not saying Cricket 2005 will be better, but then i dont think any one of us are in a position to comment before getting our hands on the games !!

Point is, is that we shouldn't be relying on using other software to enjoy playing the game

While many here are eagerly looking forward to BLC, I thought it would be good idea if we write all the negatives of Brian Lara Cricket in this thread. I shall start:

1) Cricketers will not, i repeat WILL NOT HAVE REAL NAMES. I know some may argue looking at the screenshots, but rubbergenius and Gamer tv have shown that the cricketers will not have real names. The names will look like R Drauvad, G Macgrith, S Hermisson etc. However, you might be able to edit the names.
2)This game features cartoon style graphics- very childish. EA however looks more realistic. Again this is arguable.
3)No advance shot. Enough has been discussed about this. A big feature of cricket missing.

no advance shot! :noway

No Advance shot was alwayz going to be a negative for the game's popularity...but i bet that many guyz are playing cricke 2004 at the moment despite of so many bugs and cons...I saw the England vs New zealand video....Commentry was amazing..especially Tony Grieg..He has such a lively voice that u forget for a moment u r seeing a games's demo :hpraise I think every question will be cleared in july at the release of the game.

lol -i cant w8 for BLIC- even though no advance shot - has put me real down :crying . Isn't is ironic that brian lara's most beautiful and effective shot against spin, isn't being included in his game, jsut found that funny, but c'mon, cric.2005 will be good???!! giv me a break ppl- chek the vid. xactly the same commentary - grafix hav improved tho - close - bt will prob. go to BLIC.
