well is it really hard to get licensed up?

Its not as hard as it is expensive!! And BigAnt, rightly so, decided to put all their money in developing a kicka*s game first, which is evident from what we have heard so far! Licenses are and should be secondary!

From your comment, you seem to imply that they (the studio developing games) do not actually hold a license. However, this is most likely incorrect since they (Reliance Games) are one of the biggest brands in India and BCCI would not take it lightly if someone as big as Reliance would use their name/licenses for free.

I am more saying the smaller PC, mod, android, etc community/oneself bands

I love all the comments on the Ashes Facebook page that assume that they just accidentally misspelled the names in previous games and that it is just the negligence of the developers that they didn't do their research in to how to spell their names right.

Have you played Stick Cricket? It has International Cricket plus an extra IPL mode in another separate game. It is called SPL (Stick Premier League) but they use the original name of the players. I don't know how this works really.:mad

Nope i never did. Is ot free? I once read that if you are using licensed stuffs in a product but are not selling the product you are not violating anything. Its when you sell the product forfinancial gain is when license holders get pissed off.

Some modes in the game are free, while some other modes using these names are not free. However, I dont think they used a lot of the names. Mostly ex cricketers.

Edit: I apologize!! The world cup edition did have all the players in the respective teams....and this mode is available in the paid version!

Nah, they get just as annoyed if it is free as you're devaluing the brand

Licensing issues have always been a funny one. In Pro Evo soccer you wouldn't have the correct club names, e.g. Manchester Blue and Merseyside Red, but the player names would be correct. There wouldn't be photos though, but hey, it could be any Steven Gerrard playing for a soccer team in a red shirt ey?

In Total Aussie Rules football, an old AFL management game around 2004 which cost about 30 bucks and was made by a small company, you didn't have registered trademark mascot names like the Melbourne Demons and Brisbane Lions, but you just had Melbourne and Brisbane, in addition to the player names. For the more recent Premiership Coach game the team mascots are changed slightly, eg the Melbourne Devils.

IPL T20 fever for Android had IPL License which is published Indiagames which I also think are the known publishers of many PS3 games including Street Cricket Move (?) so there is no way, they didn't bought license. It is available for free but has in app purchases. It's also written in description that they have fully licensed IPL.

But then again I don't see the point in gaining expensive license for a game which is coming only for Android. They probably have a high ranked mutual friend with BCCI or something..

Thanks for the info friend863 - the interesting one for me is the 'showing intent' challenge -'hit a six with a level 1 batsman' I was firstly wondering what the ranking system is for batting as I take it level 1 would be a tailender, so does anyone know how many levels of batting there are and what are the are for each level?

I hope that this would be a difficult achievement as the last thing you want is for the tail to be smashing it to all ends of the park with ease like they did in other cricket games

I see there is also one for level one Bowlers too

I don't think Level 1 means tailender, it just means how much you have progressed in your batting. See for example "Career Highlight". It states 'Get your career player to level 5'. You will be progress with level as you become skilled in your batting. From what I can gather from the files, the 5 Rank system in career mode depends on your skills. I explained about it here before -
The 5 ranks in Career Mode are differentiated by Points where you need to acquire required amount of points to reach individual Rank. Your Batting and Bowling skills will also determine your Rank.

No the five level are the caps for the career mode, five being test and so on. My guess is the difficulty will be picked at the start or anytime you want to play the game. PS for the difficulty I hope you can only pick before you start a game, I can see people playing on very hard and being like 6 for 30 and then lowering the difficulty to make the score better. I hope bigant have thought about this, I bet they have as they have almost everything else in this amazing sounding cricket game.

PS Thanks again friend863, you always get the juicy stuff from the files.:thumbs

friend863 any new info in the new update that you can maybe share?
