A question for the guys that are following the story.

Would you rather see more screenies of the Derbyshire team (the focus on the players on here) or keep going showin the oppisition scoring runs and what not?

Its just for those of you who have cricket 2005 you will know there are a lot of cut scenes of players after each ball ect. would you prefer more of these or more of a balanced approach focusing on the match, not the Derbyshire players?

If anyone would like to add any interviews or articles please go ahead as i will really add to the realism of the story!!!!!!!!!!

If there is enough interest still at the end of this season i will continue with another (hopefully we can gain promotion to division one in both oneday and four day games) and i will be looking for more players hopefully a full squad!!! If anyone is interested PM me and i will put you on the list for next season, all players from this season will be in next unless you dont want to, so if you dont pm me also.

S.Harmison is going to play a few games for us shortly, i think this is a good idea and will offer another dimension of realisim.

If anyone else has any ideas or suggestions please let me know as i am always looking for ways to improve. Zorax i promise i will make you a right handed batsmen next time sorry again for the error.

Game v Lancashire will begin in about 8 hrs.

Cheers boys
:cheers

Also look out for some international storeys by me, as if you show good form for Derbyshire there is a good chance you will be chosen to play for your country.

Next game starting but could everyone who has not voted yet and wishes to do so, do it asap. :cheers

Lancashire v Derbyshire at Old Trafford

Welcome to Manchester on a mild and overcast day. We are here to bring you the Fizzell County Championship Division 2 match between Derbyshire & Lancashire. The pitch looks to be green with a dense cover of grass, it should take plenty of seam from the start and be very hard work for the batting side.

It appear as though Derbyshire have lost the toss and been sent into bat.
Neither captains seem to have time for a pre match interview as they hurry off to inspire the respective sides.

As Chance and Molloy make their way into the middle to open the innings, Balaji is standing near the boundaries sipping a coffee. Well he is to bat at 8 so he can relish his coffee. Charlie McKeown from Sky TV catches up with him for a quick chat before the action gets started.

CM: Hi there Balaji
RB: Hello!
CM: This is such a good performance from you guys and that too alll of you have made your debuts together.
RB: Sure is. Well this is more like lottery to us. Of course we have done well. We know that each and every ball we bowl, each and every run we score and catch we take will have a huge impact on our future.
CM: Good start to the season. Its different you know that a bunch of newcomers making others take notice of the team
RB: Yeah! We have shown that we have what it takes to slug it out with the big boys! They might have some nightmares about Lawsy's darters and Moorey's spinners you know.
CM: Yeah! what do you feel about your own performance?
RB: To be true, I am at 10%. This are such new cricketing conditions that I still am adapting to.
CM: highest score of 21!
RB: Yeah and I took all eternity to score them. Basically I am a batsman in the defensive mould and I know that I still am at the foot of the stairs. Gotto climb a lot
CM: About your bowling?
RB: Well not bad! ain't it? Am picking up a couple here and there. Doing my support seamer stuff OK! But it doesn't help me personally that Lawsy is ripping 'em apart and Zorax! well he keeps picking crucial wickets. I bet he is surprised with himself (Evil Grin)
CM: What are your hopes?
RB: Division 1. what else?
CM: all the best! have a good game
RB: Thanks! I might as well get another cup of coffee!

Lunch Break Day 1
Frizzell County Championship Divison 2
Lancashire v Derbyshire at Old Trafford
Derbyshire 4/95

S.Smith 43 (76)
L.Freeman 12 (24) no
S.Martin 8 (20) no

J.Anderson 2/14

A poor first session by Derbyshire as the Lancashire side lead by J.Anderson torn through the Derbyshire top order. Smith looked in great toach before he got a gem of a ball that nipped back and hit his off peg. Molloy look in good touch before Anderson found his outside edge. Freeman and Martin really toilled hard late in the first session as the Lancashire bowlers dominated play. It is still unclear as to why Flintoff was left out of the side today, but either way you dont here Derbyshire complaining.

Freeman and Martin who have not been in the best of form recently will really need to knuckle down and graft out a score for themselves and there team here today. Derbyshire will be looking for there strong lower order to fire here and post a 300+ total to really put the pressure back on Lancashire. Still to come is the captain Roberts who is certainly a specialisted keeper batsman, and the tallented Balaji who joined the side as a batting allrounder but has quickly stamped his place as the opening bowler with some solid performances with the ball. Moore and Hemlani both specialist bowlers are certainly the kind of batsman who can hang around and support the middle order provided one of the recognised batsman can stand up and be counted. Last to come into bat is Laws, well the less said about laws batting the better. Well players are coming back onto the ground so let rejoin the action.
