Draft time: World Cup history - ALL FINISHED!!

tbh I haven't really planned my picks, I just statsguru whatever nation we're on and see what good ones are left :p

Could end up with a weird side in the final rounds.

I think i'm the next one:spy I would post my pick in a few minutes

Go for the sneaky! In fact everyone take note of this, it's much more exciting - leave the obvious for the guys picking at the end :p

Wasim Akram
wasim-akram-pakistan.jpg

Easily the best left arm fast bowler in the history of the game. He had the ability to move the ball both ways appreciably at will. Handpicked by Imran Khan, he showed promise at an early age. He was instrumental in pakistan's WC win. Who can forget him getting two quick wickets against England in the semi final.

He played 38 games and took 55 wickets at an avg of 23.83 with best of 5/28. His economy is 4.04 with is very good for ODI's.
He was no mug with the bat either, added some quick runs at the end of innings. His top score in WC is 43.

WC Record

Runs:426

Had to add what cricinfo says about this genius, couldnt have described him better than this >
A dream cricketer. At his best Wasim Akram plays like most of us would wish to. He has complete mastery over swing and seam, and sometimes moves the ball both ways in one delivery. All this comes at high speed from a quick, ball-concealing action, and is backed up by the threat of a dangerous bouncer or deceptive slower delivery. Akram is rated by many as the best left-arm fast bowler of all time, and his career record certainly bears that out - along with the high regard of his contemporaries. He hit like a kicking horse, but batsmanship was one skill in which Akram underachieved, despite a monumental 257 against Zimbabwe in Sheikhupura in 1996-97. He was the natural successor to Imran Khan as Pakistan's leader and captain, but the match-fixing controversies of the 1990s harmed him, blunting his edge and dimming his lustre. Though he reached the 500-wicket landmark in ODIs in the 2003 World Cup, he was among the eight players dumped after Pakistan's miserable performance. He retired shortly after, following a brief spell with Hampshire.

I'll go for sneaky in West Indies round.. I'm last in that round. So there would be nothing left for me :p

----------

I think best of the rest round should be first come first serve. There should be no order for that. I don't wanna be the last player twice in the same draft :(

^I made you last in round 11 because you got to be first in the round that I thought most people would want to be first in - the India round. That's why shravi is first in round 11, his other #1 pick is in round 6 with all the minnows - not really too attractive, so I thought I'd compensate for that a little bit. And anyway you agreed to it to the order :D Plus, West Indies is probably one of the better rounds to pick last in I think.

Oh and Wasim Akram - decent player :p Although just to argue, I think Alan Davidson was a damn good left arm bowler too. Didn't play ODIs though obviously.

Also, just to announce: Cricketman got back to me and he's out of the draft. He's a bit busy at present. I'll see if Gazza wants to replace him. I'd like to give him the next pick if we can. That will help to give him a start that isn't too disadvantaged. I'll give him the first pick in round 11 too.

So AkshayS, please hold off picking for the moment until I sort out a replacement - hopefully it won't be too long.

I think I got lucky with the minnows and best of the rest. I love it, really. Those are going to be the toughest rounds.

Best of the rest isn't tough, but minnows would be...

I'll try and get Cricketman replaced, but if I can't do it quickly, we'll just carry on with 9.

I'm heading off for the night and since I haven't heard back from Gazza yet, we might as well keep going. AkshayS you can make your pick whenever you're ready.

And Gazza if you come on and still want to be in it - you're welcome :) Just jump in with a Pakistan pick, and we'll sort out any other details later.
