Emerging Players Tournament 2011

Tournament has started already with the T20s finished. Of note from the AIS matches, Maxwell quickfire 100 against SA and 50 against India. Can't be too long before he gets into the T20 side. Cutting was a class above when he played, 3-15 against NZ and 5-17 against India. Abbott was solid in 2 of the matches. Going from that Maxwell and Cutting could be valuable picks for IPL sides.

It does seem our AIS guys collapse quite a bit, apart from Maxwell none have really stood up. Beaton has been disappointing given what he showed for WA.

Loving the fact that they're playing a three day tournament this year.

What everybody has to remember about the Australian side is that most of them are fringe or very young domestic players. Where as India and NZ are made up of players pushing for national selection. So NZ and India should be demolishing Australia in every match. If Aus can be competitive then it's a bonus.

The oldest player we have is Ben Cutting who is 24. Cutting, Holland and Starc are the only players who've played more than 10 first class matches. 3 are yet to make their first class debut.

Broom made 197 off 187 balls, Bracewell 52 off 51 balls wile Starc was economical and grabbed 3 wickets. The game has really speed up and a result could be possible, just a shame they didn't do a proper FC match. In reply Maxwell continuing his brilliant start with 74 from 60 too bad that won't be included in his FC stats.

Broom should bat at 6 for the Black Caps imo.

He was given far too many chances and IIRC he scored only a half century in the last 10-15 appearances he made for NZ

I reckon McGlashan would do better job than Broom
