England in Sri Lanka

Broad, Anderson and Hoggard will be good seam attack backed up by Panesar and Swan.. Also Collingwood and occasional Flintoff burst will do.

Flintoff isn't on the tour.

In the tour game we have them 130 odd for 3. One each for Broad, Sidebottom and Panesar. Panesar's been getting some stick though. Gone for about 5 an over. Tharanga's got 60 odd currently.

Swann is also being quite expensive, as England are in Sri Lanka I think this can be classed as a current tour.

Hmm another 50 a sider. Still disagree with these, it gives us no clue of how the side will shape up and it's not proper cricket which is waht they should be playing, didn't exactly work in Aus anyway. Good to see Broady getting a wicket and I think it's between him, Jim and harmy for the third seamers spot. Andersons not 100% apparently yet though. Only 60 overs in the day or is it tea? Thats a pretty poor over rate on our account if its the end of the day.

There was a thunderstorm after tea.

Swann and Panesar quite expensive, good to see Hoggy back, pace bowlers did OK seemingly, there was a couple if chances put down apparently. Looks like Thranga wants to take the slot opened by the retirement of Appattu.

Did anyone see the snake? Hoggy was prodding it with a stick.

It gives all the players a chance to impress rather than just selecting the 11 you would pick for the first test.Only 61 overs as it rained for all of the last session.

Its strange that England don't do well in warm up games. I know there is a long way to go in this one but England aren't on the right side.

There is an oppotunity for the bowlers to get in the first test match.

I wouldn't think Hoggard is a certainty for the first test either so plenty to play for, for the bowlers.

The only certain selection in the bowling department at the moment is Monty. The pace bowlers places are totally up for grabs.

I don't care about giving everyone a chance because it's not a proper cricket match. We won't be able to bowl 8 different guys in the tests so we might as well select a proper XI, whether its the one that starts the first test or not. We have 2 games against them so everyone would get a game too.

I just saw the snake on SSN, I'm not sure what Peter Moores would have thought had it bit Hoggy.

Well Sidebottom will have his place I'm sure and I think England are going to want to play two spinners in the tests on these spinners pitches so that will leave just one slot between Anderson, Broad, Hoggard and Harmison.

To be honest I think that Anderson and Broad are ahead of Hoggard and Harmison because they have had more cricket and they both played a part in the victorious ODI side. Very interesting indeed.

If you're in a game like that I don't think you can possibly put 100% in, it won't feel like a proper game will it? Plus, who cares? It's only a practice, the best teams learn as much from losing as they do winning.

Yeah I know but you must put effort in since there is places in the 1st test for anyone who wants them.

If that were me, I would take that seriously.

yeh Robo if one of the bowlers cleans them up tomorrow taking 4 or 5 wickets in the morning then they could earn themselves a test spot.

Dropping Hoggard would be mental, he hasn't done anything wrong and only missed a summer, despite missing this summer he's still ranked as the 9th best bowler in the world and he was ranked 6th before injury hit. He's Englands best bowler imo, Monty obviously has to start though but for me Sidebum and Hoggard have to be in the side.

It's not just that, it's their first game in 5 weeks or so.
