Mubarak has always seemed a bit useless, but I think Silva can come good. Tharanga can sometimes be a mystery, but Kapugedera is much more so. He generally seems like a handy tailender and then he comes up with a tough 50 out of no where. There has been much praise for his ability and potential, but his lack of consistency is possibly more notable.
In terms of the Sri Lankan bowling towards the end, it doesn't look like they bowled as badly as the scorecard says. Malinga usually fires in the yorker, but his length appears to have been just short of that. It seems he was getting reverse swing there as well, so you'd still feel hard done by to bowl fast, full inswingers and still get hit for six. Plus, when the opposition is playing so well, it's easy to lose confidence in what is a good ball.
To that end, it seems a very impressive innings. Often you find a young player, especially the young Pakistanis are infatuated with the big shot. Certainly, Umar Akmal hit Mendis for six in just his 7th ball, but he kept control of his senses. He brought up 30 runs with just his second boundary and again, a very good six.
More bounce or more away movement might force him to play a different range of shots and definitely, less across the line hitting, but we come to expect that past the 40th over in an ODI. I'm sure he has more than enough shots anyway.
