England U19s destroyed in 2nd ODI

SECOND YOUTH ODI, Shenley
Pakistan U19s 164/2 beat England U19s 163/9 by 8 wickets

England U19's were completely destroyed by another fantastic Pakistan
performance. England only managed 163/9, the second time they have made
just 163 in this series. Mohammad Aamer was the main destroyer for
Pakistan, taking 6 for 29 in a blistering spell. Mohammad Rameez squeezed
the English batsmen taking 1 for 19 from 10 overs. In reply opener Ahmed
Shehzad smashed 101 from just 82 balls as the England bowlers toiled in the
field.

The day started horribly for England as their best batsmen, Billy Godleman,
went for a diamond duck. Karl Brown was the only pure batsmen to make any
runs, he hit 37. It was left to the tail to get the runs, partnerships of 27, 34
and 49* for the 9th, 10th and 11th wicket gave England a chance. A fine
knock from Stuart Weaker of 47 not out was the pick of the innings.

Pakistan never were worried with chasing the total, Ahmed Shehzad smashing
his way to a hundred and a victory in just 24 overs. Umar Amin hit 46
unbeaten runs in a big 2nd wicket stand of 115 from 109 with Shehzad.

India roar at Northampton

50 OVER MATCH, Northampton
India 244/8 beat England Lions 189/9 by 55 runs

India defeated the England Lions at Northampton in their last game before the
7 ODI series against England. India won by 55 runs thanks to an 87 from
Sourav Ganguly and 3 wickets for Munaf Patel. India made 244/8 from their
50 overs, MS Dhoni hitting an unbeaten 45 to help India make a competitive
total. Superb all-round bowling by the Indians meant that they won
convincingly with the Lions making just 189/9.

India won the toss and batted first. Sourav Ganguly was the main stay of the
innings hitting 87 from 107 deliveries. A 42 by Yuvraj Singh, 37 from Gautam
Gambhir and an unbeaten 45 by the captain Dhoni, brought India up to a
good total. Jon Lewis took 2 for 40 and Chris Tremlett 2 for 44 but Chris
Schofield took a bit of a battering with 1 for 60 off his 10 overs.

In reply only two Lions batsmen made it past 20 as they fell well short of the
target. Vikram Solanki hit a fine 60 from 90 balls but nobody could stick with
him. The only resistance came late on via an unbeaten last wicket stand of
43 between James Kirtley and Chris Tremlett. Kirtley hit 30* and Tremlett 17*
to make the margin of victory for India slightly less emphatic. Munaf Patel
took 3 for 28, and wickets for Zaheer Khan (2), Ajit Agarkar and Piyush Chawla
mean that there is a battle for places for the 1st ODI at the Rose Bowl.
