yeh nice work Trev and i have to say i agree with all of them! Dhoni definetely desereved his rating of 9! :) Keep it up!

Not good rating for the batsmen except for Dhoni, and Dravid. Although Sachin managed to up his rating by taking those important wickets. It will be interesting to see how the bowlers have performed. Great reviews Trev :)

...1st Npower Test Match Ratings Cont'd

  • I.Pathan - Took 4 wickets over the two England innings but made up for what he lacked in conviction with the ball, with the bat. Pathan made a very defiant 14 from 71 balls in the first innings but he decided that wasn't good enough. He scored 81 in the India chase and was the last man out as India fell 8 runs agonisingly short. A quality knock from the man who has been in and out of the team due to inconsistent form. He took the reigns from Dhoni when Dhoni dismissed and played superbly, in what was on another day a match winning innings.

    Overall Rating: 9

  • A.Kumble - Didn't perform to the best of his ability but still managed to aid the Indian team with 4 wickets, a run out and a catch. Only 12 runs in the first innings from 40 balls and a quick 10 in the 2nd innings. An ok performance but could've been a lot better.

    Overall Rating: 5

  • RP.Singh - 4 wickets and a catch for RP.Singh, in an ok performance from the Indian seamer. The left armer took the vital wicket of M.Panesar in the second innings but not before the damage had been done. He actually took the wickets of just two players as he dismissed Collingwood and Panesar in both innings. RP.Singh wasn't expected to do anything with the bat and didn't, scoring just a total of 7 runs in the two innings.

    Overall Rating: 6

  • Z.Khan - Khan was terrible with the ball, had nothing to do with the bat and managed just the one influential piece of fielding. Khan was very poor and wasn't used much by Dravid because of his unusual lack of accuracy. Khan was a shadow of his usual self and contributed nothing to the match. Just the one run out and not a lot with the bat seeing as he hit 3* and 4*. Very poor test match for the Indian veteran.

    Overall Rating: 1

Good stuff mate, haven't really looked into this story, but well done. Keep up the good work

Monty Panesar seriously was key for you, how did he get 38?

:D

Called quality gameplay. He had his fair share of edges I'll tell you. I'm just annoyed I didn't manage to wait patiently for his 50 instead of playing rashly and getting out.

2nd Test will start in the next few days :onpc

It was good test match for Pathan after he was fighting hard with the bat in the 2nd innings. Zaheer will like to forget this match for sure.

This has been added to the first post:

England Test Series squad named
Today the ECB chairman of selectors, David Graveney has announced the test squad to face India in the up-and-coming Npower Test Series. With key players out, such as Andrew Flintoff, Matthew Hoggard, Steve Harmison and Marcus Trescothick, the team includes a few inexperienced players. There are two big inclusions, Chris Tremlett of Hampshire has been named in the 13-man squad. Tremlett would be set to make his debut if he made the first XI. Ryan Sidebottom is again named in the 13-man squad after he returned to international cricket last series against the West Indies. Ravi Bopara is the other un-capped England player to be called up to the squad. The Essex batting all-rounder has been waiting for the call after a good 2006 season. Liam Plunkett has been also named in the 13. Michael Vaughan will continue to captain the test team.

England 13-man squad: M.Vaughan (c)(Yorkshire), J.Anderson (Lancashire), I.Bell (Warwickshire), R.Bopara (Essex), P.Collingwood (Durham), A.Cook (Essex), M.Panesar (Northamptonshire), K.Pietersen (Hampshire), L.Plunkett (Durham), M.Prior (wk)(Sussex), R.Sidebottom (Nottinghamshire), A.Strauss (Middlesex), C.Tremlett (Hampshire)
