Not been a great start from England at all. Sidebottom's first spell was atrocious, bowled far too wide and at his pace any international batsman could have taken him to the cleaners. He had Tamim dropped, but that delivery did not remotely deserve a wicket, was a horrible delivery. Just convinced me further that we need to bin him. He's been terrible in ODi cricket for a while now.
I'd have played Tredwell in his place having thought about it, 4 seamers on this track is a waste, just shows our lack of dimension in the bowling attack, just basically 4 identical seamers and 1 spinner. Adil Rashid could have been a useful weapon on these pitches, but seeing that he's not been picked Tredwell should get his place, you really need 2 spinners in the subcontinent.
No need to play Prior and Kieswetter so I'd have brought in perhaps Rashid if he really is the future of England. Agree on Sidebottom, but then are Bresnan and Wright good enough for ODIs either? Not sure about Tredwell, maybe if Swann got injured as a cover.
Also, did anyone see those ICC ODi bowling rankings? WTF is with the Zimbabwean bowler in at number 2? Basically all his wickets have come against Bangladesh and Kenya. He took wickets against SA in 2 games, and that seems to have bumped him up the rankings. Just further proof that the ICC player rankings are laughable.
Anyone reading them with more than half a brain knows they are utter tosh, unless they want to believe them but then that is covered by the half a brain qualifier. Wasn't Harris in the top 10 either for Tests or ODIs not so long ago? No way is he top 10, maybe if you limit it to South Africa, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe. Price's ODI bowling average is decidedly average, he has taken 3/55 and 3/44 in recent ODIs but has played noone but Bangladesh and Kenya inbetween playing South Africa and Sri Lanka back in January last year in a tri-series
Ray Price
08/09 vs Bangladesh : 7 wkts @ 7.29
08/09 vs Kenya : 8 wkts @ 24.13
09/10 vs Bangladesh : 8 wkts @ 25.13
09/10 vs Kenya : 8 wkts @ 20.13
09/10 vs Bangladesh : 4 wkts @ 36.50
09/10 vs South Africa : 6 wkts @ 16.50
Either too much weighting placed on the wickets against South Africa or for wickets taken against Bangladesh and Kenya. Either way there is no way he's the second best bowler in ODIs,
might make top 10 ODI spinners. In all honesty the two types should probably be separate rankings

Because our selectors are morons.
Beautiful bowling from Graeme Swann. Drift and sharp turn, such a fine bowler. There's not a better finger-spinner in the world right now. <3 Swanneh. Sharp work from Prior too it has to be said.
One thing I've long thought is that we need a batsman or two who can bowl spin, like Hick used to except he was dropped too soon and/or too often. KP could bowl or perhaps Cook himself, rather feel that we are one dimensional and perhaps ODI in England's case stands for One Dimensional Internationals
