A forty one year old swing bowler bouncing out Shreyas on a spin friendly pitch will be the most hilarious thing of this series.
Root to Shreyas Iyer, FOUR, a half tracker, wonder if Root was trying a bouncer at Iyer here.
Here's another one who can be rested from Tests for a while. He is slightly better than Gill, but never the less, rest will do him good. To be fair though, Iyer has improved his short ball game by quite some margin. Doesnt help much, cause he has been getting out to the same, but I was quite impressed from his gameplay after the injury.
I have said it when he was announced as all-format captain, Rohit was fit for limited overs, not Test matches. If the Test scenario had to work, Rohit needed someone like a Mahela/ Sanga to guide him. Also, bear in mind, this is the 1st full series with a pretty strong opposition. The one off WTC game doesn't really count. India missed a trick by perhaps not having R Ashwin as captain (considering as Pujara and Rahane were already being discarded). This Rohit - Dravid defensive team has to go as well.
India's Squad for first two test
Rohit Sharma (capt), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), KS Bharat (wk), Dhruv Jurel (wk), R Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah (vice-captain), Avesh Khan
Mohammad Shami is still out. Axar, Kuldeep add to Jadeja Ashwin spin attack. Dhruv Jurel gets a place in the 15.
But the vibes? There’s no point in playing Rehan if he doesn’t bowl even in the second session whilst the team’s star batter is bowling as many overs as a specialist spinner.
But he’s a leg spinner which is always helpful to have in the sub-continent and to provide a point of difference if required. We don’t pick players for no reason, everyone has a role and a job to do and we trust everyone to do it when and if needed. There’s no point in playing Rehan if he doesn’t bowl even in the second session whilst the team’s star batter is bowling as many overs as a specialist spinner.

Also with Rehan, I get the impression he's there more to bowl at the lower order, or on day four/five pitches with uneven bounce. Especially with Bashir looking like a fairly accurate option at one end

How to show how out of touch you are. We don’t care that they might backfire, if you are thinking about how your plans could fail, then you will never fully commit and when you don’t go in 100%, then you will definitely will fail. So why bother. That is Bazball. Get with the times and open you eyesIm quite surprised that people are defending the 'no Bowling' by Rehan here. Bringing him on after 50 overs makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Rehan is supposed to be a better spinner than Root. Now, if as per some of you, he's only there to bowl on D4/D5 or at the lower order, then he ought to pack his bags and go. Zak Crawley could do that job.
Stokes- while these erratic decisions have worked in the past, shouldn't really continue down this path. It can back fire pretty badly.
Finally, the truth! Our lower order starts at three
It’s useful when you’ve been up from 4am and on minimal sleep thoHaving a no ball siren in a test match is utter cringe.
