Rohit's captaincy has been really poor here. I'm shocked that he's not tried to do anything different, such as:

• keeping the field up and trying to deny Foakes the single for a bit to get a full over at Bashir
• also trying to get Foakes out
• bowling Akash Deep at all

Did he employ any of this in the end to get Foakes out, or did it just happen?

Yep. Just absolutely pissed it away with a refusal to go with match-ups over vibes.

Rohit is Jimmy's bunny and Jaiswal plays with low hands making Bashir's bounce difficult. Neither of those had even touched the ball before India knocked off 20% of the runs.

Given the way the pitch behaved in the first 2 sessions of day 1 along with how England ended the day, it's quite a turnaround to find India starting day 5 with all wickets in hand and 150 more to get. England had us on the mat at 220-7 and it looked certain that a defeat was on the cards.

Even though India is ahead at the moment, I would still say it's gonna be very tricky. 1 wicket might get you two more, and there's literally not much in the middle order in terms of experience; 55-45 I would say in favour of India.

I don't know how many finger nails I'll be left with tomorrow, I reckon the 1st session could very well decide the futureof the series. Get 2-3 wickets and India will start sweating. On the other hand, get 60-70 runs and England bowlers' might start getting discouraged.

I'm also very happy to see Ashwin back among the wickets. England did extremely well to nullify him until the last innings. This should bring his mojo back.

Terrific day in store tomorrow. I hope we get a keenly contested innings no matter who wins.

It's definitely something that could be considered, Foakes batting at 5 or 6, meaning Stokes and Bairstow are more likely to bat with the tail.

285 runs @ 35.62 this series, and only two 50+ scores since the Pakistan tour is certainly interesting. It's just that those two 50+ scores totalled 401 runs between them
