Tea Day 2:

England really need to kick on from here, Tea on Day 2 and they have 5 wickets in hand with a lead of sorts, Peitersen is well set and Jones is well on his way, both have their eye in and will be looking to excelerate the run rate from now on. There are only tailenders to come in now so a big partnership is needed, probrably about 100, then the tail will be expected to eek out 40 maybe 50 runs which is doable against this demoralised attack. From there early wickets are the key, the new ball bowlers will need to strike quickly to get India on the back foot. England's game plan is wokring so far, they just need to carry on the way they are going at the moment!

Jones Falls Short But Is Very Unlucky:

The England team got what they wanted, a century partnership, 117 runs to be exact were shared between Jones and Peitersen (who may yet become the centurion England need), but they wont be able to help themselves feeling hard done too. Anil Kumble was the man credited with the wicket but it was all Geraitn Jones' doing in the end. Kumble floated one up outside off stump that drifted into middle, Jones played a solid definsive shot but the ball hit the inside edge, cannoned into the pad, flicked up onto his glove, came back down onto the pad, hit the back of the bat and then rolled onto the stumps, dislodging the bails, one of the most elaborate drag on's you are likely to see. Jones looked unhappy as he left the field on 49. Peiterwen is still going strong on 76 and theres enough batting in the tail to drag out another 100 runs im sure so we go back to the enthralling action!

End Of Day 2:

The day once again was well and truly England's. India have taken wickets but not quickly enough and not at crucial times, the England batsmen have been allowed to get starts and they failed to break the most important partnership of the day; Peitersen and Jones. You feel that if they had broken that after 30 they may well have been batting by now. As it stands Ashley Giles has fared well against some of the worlds best spinners and seamers, he has been adequete support for Pietersen, who is really getting on towards his first century in India, he is looking calm, cool, composed, collected and.... well... i cant think of any more adjectives to describe him, but hes going good. India need to nuckle down, pressurise Giles, then polish of the tail. England just need to keep going the way they are and get as many runs as they can, then be aggressive and take control right from the off. Join us tomorrow for another exiting days play here in Kolkata.

Celebration and Sadness In An Over:

Kevin Pietersen seemed to get sick of playing a waiting game as he hammered the first two balls of Irfan Pathan's over to the boundary with a creaming cover drive and an elegant straight drive he jumped for joy and celebrated his first Century against India, he then took a brisk single as he clipped one to the legside to put the seemingly competent Giles on strike. He didnt look so competent as he tried to emulate Pietersen's second stroke, played the complete wrong line to the inswinger and has to chance as the ball split his bat and pad and crashed into the off stump. He played extremely well for his 17 in the end, he had to get himself in at the end of the day and then start all over again today so he was a prime candidate, Udal is in the next who we haven't seen a lot of, then Hoggard and Harmison who can hang about, India could have a job on thier hands....

I think England can still win this Match.

With 3 Wickets in hand, with Pietersen on fire, and with England's bowlers ready to strike - I don't see why not.

I think Usy was misreading the situation slightly tbh, England are the favourites here!!!

Well, you never know in cricket, if needs be India have the batsmen to bat the game out for a draw, although they need a win!
