SriLankan batsmen played well to get a big total on board

This pitch has really turned out to be a batting paradise with SriLanka posting 290 off their alloted 50 overs by losing just 4 wickets.batting was difficult in the first 15 overs but SriLankan openers played watchfully and not losing any wickets in the starting overs. Three SriLankan batsmen scored half centuries and Jayawardena scored breezy 45 and some good batting in the end by Atapattu and Dilshan helped SriLanka to score 290 in this 3rd qualifying match.Lets take a look at the positive and negetive aspects of the SriLankan innings.

Positive Aspects :

+ 3 SriLankan batsmen scored half centuries(Tharanga, Jayasurya and Sangakkara).
+ Sangakkara continued his good form.
+ Jayasurya's knock of 70 runs seems like he is back in form .
+ Batsmen chipped in with very important runs in the end .
+ Zimbabwe gave just 6 extras in the whole innings

Negetive Aspects :
- Zimbabwe bowling again failed to take top order wickets inside the first 15 overs .
- Jayasurya , Tharanga and Sangakkara didn't went on to play a big one after getting half centuries .

Srilankan openers started well with Tharanga once again gave them a good start and was going along at a nice rate . Tharanga who was struggling to score in th epast few matches even after getting good start finally converted his start to a fine half century and that too sharing a century partnership with Jayasurya .But later on he was trapped in front off the bowling of Rinke
Tharanga's innings:

Sanath Jayasurya will be very pleased man after getting a wonderful half century as he was out of form and was struggling to score runs. Now this knock of 70 runs has given him lots of confidence and he was looking confident after he went past 20 runs .His knock of 70 runs consisted of 12 fours .
Jayasurya back in form:

After two good knocks in the opening slot now it was time for K.Sangakaara to continue his good form. He played a quick fire knock of 65 off just 38 balls with 14 fours and 1 Six. This knocked showed that he is the inform batsmen and never fails when he comes out to bat. Later in the end of the innings Jayawardena supported Sangakkara with a run-a-ball 45. Then in the last 3 overs Atapattu scored 22 off 11 balls and Dilshan scored 18 off 9 balls which helped SriLanka to score 30-40 runs more than intended.
Sangakkara continued his good form:

SriLanka: 290/4 (50 overs)
Sanath Jayasurya: 70(108 balls) 12 fours
Sangakkara: 65(38 balls)14 fours 1 six

Zimbabwe need 291 off 50 overs

P.S. : Zimbabwe openers have started batting in an aggressive manner. Are we on to something different ??

M. Holding :Ball was swinging in the start and also Jayasurya was not in the greatest of forms so he was very watchful in the start and then after scoring 20 runs he gained confidence and then started playing his natural game .....btw u can see that there are no sixes in his innings ...so that was not a typical Jayasurya innings but that was just a confidence gainer for him....also after this knock he will have his confidence on a high and look how he will play in the next match

Once again Gamer. Mindblowing presentation! I expect a Sri Lankan victory. Although it isn't unexpected considering they're playing Zimbabwe!

Great stuff Gamer mate brilliant presentation.

an interesting qualifying round so far with Sri Lanka and Windies on top as in real life. Think Zimbabwe will fade away in this game and you'll see a similar final match just like in the real tourney :)

brilliant presentation Gamer one of the best around :clap

Zimbabwe lost the game but showed that they can bat in International cricket

Zimbabwe lost the game but shown some pride with their batting .The openers batted well and after 1st 7 overs it looked like SriLanka are finding it difficult to get a breakthrough .Duffin was strong with his batting and was very watchful while Sibanda was playing his shots nicely. Then wickets kept on tumbling and Fernando was the star in bowling as he picked up four wickets. Murali was smashed for runs which included 2 huge sixes . He was expensive with figures of 10 overs 66 runs for just 1 wicket .Lets take a look at the positive and negetive aspects of the Zimbabwe innings.

Positive Aspects :

+ Atlast Zimbabawe scored some runs on the board looking at their current form.
+ Fernando pick of the bowlers.
+ Openers gave a good start .

Negetive Aspects :

- Murali was expensive.
- Even after having a good run rate Zimbabwe kept on losing wickets.

Zimababwe openers gave a solid start to the innings and then after the fall of Duffin's wicket Masakadsa came in and scored valuable runs Runs were coming quite easily and there were perfect conditions to bat on . But things changed quickly and Sibanda's good innings came to an end after he was caught behind off the bowling of Malinga . Sibanda scored a good knock of 41 runs and he truely deserved a half century . Soon after Masakadsa was run out by Atapattu with a brilliant throw from the deep . Still Zimbabwe were looking good enough for thw win but D.Fernando spoiled the party . He came in and got four quick wickets and there was no chance that ZImbabwe can make a come back from there as the tail was exposed and even Murali was in the attack from the other end . D.Fernando got the batsmen hopping around with his pace and then he used his slower delivery quite effectively .Lets take a look at the four wickets of D.Fernando .
Dilhara Fernando's wicket's:

Murali was expensive in his spell which does not happen quire often but everyone has one bad day and that happened with Murali today gave away 66 off 10 overs but he managed to pick up 1 wicket which but in the end it was poor performace by him as the bastmen went after his bowling and he was smashed for 2 sixes. The Zimbabawe tail played some attacking shots in the end but F.Maharoof got the tow wickets in the and Zimbabwe were bowled out for 212 which was a good fightback by them .

But in the whole action there was one special moment which is the Shot Of The Day --- played by T.Duffin who played a maganificant cover drive which was powerfully struck and the filder had no chance to stop that one. May be Duff is teaching him how to play good shots :p
