England's Best Start In This Tournament

After winning the toss West Indies were bowling nicely in the start of the innings and Taylor was making the batsmen work hard to score the runs and was bowling good short balls and was bowling around 140 kph while Bradshaw was teasing the batsmen with his controlled line and length. England needed to good start and somehow they were not upto the task . Huge West Indies failed to capitalize on that as Strauss was on 5 runs and he went for a hook shot when Taylor bowled shot and managed to get a top edge and the ball was high in the air touching the sky . Samules was under that one and he adjusted himself perfectly but at the last second he just seemed to lose his balance and dropped a simple chance. The chance went begging for West Indies and Strauss survived on 5 runs. Now he needs to use this opportuninty and score carefully after getting a life.

West Indies committed crime after dropping that catch and now England have started to capitalize . A.Strauss have looked to be confident in his stroke making aftre that drop catch and I.Bell is playing nicely and the most important thing in this opening partnership is they are rotating the strike nicely. Both Strauss and Bell have got to a good start and the partnership between them has gone past 50 runs. This is England's best start in this tournament and the pitch is also favouring the batsmen. West Indies will have to do something to break this partnership and get back in the match otherwise England will find it easy to score 300.
Good opening partnership

Gud start for England! Looking forward for Kp though! ;)

England need to up the run rate. They haven't scored quick enough with the fielding restrictions.

Yes, but good thing is that England havent lost a wicket. With KP and Freddie still to come we can always up the run rate later on.

great start by england although they are going quite slowly hopefully that will increase towards the end of the innings

The Windies need a wicket here to get into the middle order.

C'mon Windies!

You would have thought that Eng woulda gone at a faster rate

Great presentation as usual.

keep it up gamerkid

Strauss scores half-century , Pietersen departs cheaply

After a slow but slow but stady start England started playing nicely and runs started to come in quick time. Ian Bell was confident in his stroke making and never looked to lose his concentration while West Indies are annoyed on that drop catch of Strauss by Samuels as Strauss is looking confident now and he is scoring quickly. Boundaries are free flowing for England and the run rate has increased too. But the breakthorugh finally came for West Indies as Ian Bradshaw who was bowling a controlled line and length trapped Bell for an lbw which was clearly out and Umpire also had no doubts in his mind about that one. Ian Bell scored well made 30 runs in 48 balls with 4 fours. Next batsman in for England was Kevin Pietersen who is in terrific form in this tournament scoring a century agaisnt the Indians and then a gutsy fifty against the Aussies. Pietersen started nicely with 2 back to back boundaries to Taylor and was loking dangerous. But he tried to hook a short ball of Taylor and Ian Bradshaw took a nice catch at fine leg. That was really high in the air and Bradshaw covered some distance to take that catch .Peitersen failed to continue his good form and now it seems that West Indies are going to cause some problems to the middle order .
2 quick wickets for West Indies

Paul Collingwood walked in for England and he played a good knock in the last match scoring 84 runs and was unbeaten till the end. England need as similar innings from him today . On the other hand A.Strauss's drop catch is costing West Indies as he scored a brilliant half century and now he is looking dangerous as he is close to reach his 3 figures. Collingwood is providing a good supporting role and today is is playing at a decent strike rate. Strauss is plating well on 81 while Collingwood is growing in confidence as he is on 20.

Strauss Slams Century , England On Top

Brilliant batting performance by England all the way as they are right on top of this match and looks like West Indies have made a big mistake by bowlinf first . The pitch is certainly suiting the batsmen and on this hard wicket its difficult to get wickets and to add to that Samuels dropped Strauss on 5 runs and the end result is that Andrew Strauss scored a brilliant century in just 112 balls with 12 boundaries . His innings consisted of real class and was very good in shot selection and stroke making. England are certainly on top in this match with the help of Strauss's century and now he need to stay till the end and get the total post 300 runs and then England will be in winning position.

Meanwhile on the other end Paul Collingwood who was batting so nicely departed just when he was trying to score more quickly . Collingwood was playing a good supporting role when Strauss was hitting on the other end and now he treid to score some quick runs and went for a flick shot on the leg side but the ball went straight in the hands of West Indies captain Brian Lara . Still England have 7 wickets in hand and 10 overs remaining in the England innings and the score is 202 for 3 . Now can England get past 300 runs or will West Indies restrict them under 270. The question still remains in everyones mind as A.Flintoff takes gaurd.

Top presentation Gamer as usual :happy

Strauss is playing well out there.Looks like Samuels will not be getting a polite treatment from the rest of the team after he returns in the dressing-room.:D
