I won't let Gerrard use the injury excuse again. He's been poor in an England shirt for years yet no one dares say a word against him. Instead the media stick to the tried and tested method of blaming Lampard or some other scapegoat.

England's front 6 should be this;

Barry as the holding midfielder.
Young and Cole as wingers.
Rooney playing behind the front two.
Agbonlahor and Crouch up front.

You just can't argue with Crouch's international goalscoring record. How lumps and wasters like Defoe and Heskey are being played yet Agbonlahor isn't is absolutely mystifying.

I'd like to see some evidence of JT taunting 9/11 victims.

Agree about Gerrard he's done nothing for England for a long time, mind Lampard has been just as bad, and probably worse. They can't play together though NFT.

Agree about Young too, been playing very well for Villa, so definitely deserves a chance.

That's not taunting, that is getting drunk in the same place as the grievers.

:rolleyes:Yeah I know what you mean, in fact I often go down to the cemetry when a funeral is taking place and have a few drinks, nothings funnier than death eh?

You won't have much luck, they don't serve alcohol at cemetries.

You knew I'd check this thread didn't you!

"England go on to lose, 4-0"

Lmao. That's just a sensational piece of comedy. Sod the copyright rules, I want an England manager who does this;

And an England captain who does this;

So much for England's new era under Capello. He's basically picking the same team that Sven and Steve picked. How can no England manager realise that LAMPARD AND GERRARD CANNOT EFFING PLAY TOGETHER! And the fact that Joe Cole started on the bench is laughable. I know it's a friendly and all, but it looked as if Fabio set out to win this with a full strength starting XI and i'm sorry, but an England starting XI with Defoe in it and Joe Cole not in it is laughable.

Have to say well played to Wes Brown as well. People on 606 were slagging him off but he was the best player on the pitch. Showed mroe heart than anybody else. Yes that includes you Mr "i'm amazing for Liverpool so i'll try 70 yard wonder passes all the time that never actually reach their target" Gerrard.

Terrible, England. Absolutely bloody awful. No creativity, no passion, no get up and go, no hope. In order to sort this England team out, we have to:

Form the FA out of people who know football, especially the head! Look at Brazil: Pele. France, Platinin. Germany, Beckenbauer. We've got a great chance since the current head has just jacked it in! I'd say appoint Sir Bobby Robson, but unfortunately, it appears he hasn't got much longer with us. Bloody cancer.

Enforce a limit on the amount of foreigners each team can field at any one time, so we actually have more players coming through!

The FA should pay some of the player's wages. If they don't perform well for England, as well as their clubs, they get paid less.

David James should never play for England again.

I'd love to see a wage cap of ?10,000 a week, personally. The players don't give a damn about playing for England, they need to be bought down to Earth. Look at the Olympic team, they don't get anything like the ridiculous money these prima-donnas get and look at their pride, commitment and passion! But, I know it'll never happen, ?10,000pw wouldn't keep these idiots in Ferraris and escort girls, would it?

In friendlies, where it doesn't matter, introduce young players! Throw them in, see if they can swim! Players like Walcott, Ben Foster, Agbonlahor (spelling?) Look at the U21 team! They show more passion and commitment than this lot. In fact, they'd probably beat this lot!

Ok, rant over.

Don't get too excited Rob, we're still gonna twat you on the 26th.

Yep, the England team has always lacked this quality, when their backs are against the wall they never seem to dig in and put every bit of energy they have into the cause. They don't throw themselves at the ball to block a shot which might save the match (e.g. Petric's goal which sent us out of the Euros, should have been closed down much more quickly) etc. There's no real urgency in their play.

You can see how hard some of these Olympic athletes are working, pure determination and willpower getting them through a lot of things. Like when you see a 10k race or a marathon or something, you can see that they are exhausted near the end, but somehow manage to do a sprint finish because they want to win so much, that should be what the England players are like, but they are not.

The England team just panic, start playing the long ball and rely on a piece of skill or a bit of luck to get them out of bad situations, it worked before Euro 2008, but our luck has run out.

:D :D :D :D :D

What about those swimmers! Two hours swimming and they nearly got Gold and Silver as well! They're what you call sportsmen (or women) who are worth their money.

Edit: The England team hasn't always lacked this quality, it's only recently. Remember a bloodied Terry Butcher who soldiered on for England in a World Cup (might've been '90)? Or the battling qualities of Bobby Moore, Alan Ball and more recently, Tony Adams and Paul Ince? Where are those types of players now?? Could it be because they didn't get paid so bloody much in those days?! Even the lads in '96 and '98 fought hard for their country and would've been rewarded, with a bit of luck.

So, who would you have to replace Barwick as head of the FA? What about Trevor Brooking? He's a good football man.
