People will have noticed that Lee Dixon on MoTD 2 was unsure... he's a Man City fan who played for Arsenal for 10+ years.

First up I didn't think it was, and I'm very aware that slow-mo can make things look a lot worse, but it only took a couple of replays to realise that the backwards motion of the leg shows that it was a deliberate movement of the foot as a stamp. Funny thing is that Lescott probably should have gone for elbowing Kaboul as well.

Not been Spurs month or two for decisions, but we get on with it, and our players continue to play with relative honesty and without screaming at refs as a pack of hunting dogs. May not be the best team in England this year, but we'll go down as the most dignified/attractive team in England this year.

100% deliberate stamp from the biggest tit in english football.

Anyone who defends him is an even bigger tit.

He wont get a ban, there is far too much doubt about it, you cant ban someone because they might of done something on purpose.

Only Balotelli knows if he intended it do it, yes it looks terrible, especially when slowed down and showed from 4 different angels repetedly.

I just think that in the slipt second inbeteen falling over and hitting the ground, it would be pretty difficult to not only stamp on something, but stamp on somthing you cant see as its behind you.

Facts on this inncident are, Balotelli kick Parker in the head, Balotelli was facing the opposite direction, Balotelli never once looked at the player or in his direction and Balotelli was falling over at the time of the incident.

Lescotts eblow was FAR worse! That looks terrible.

but then if Rooney didnt get a ban for this

then id be suprIsed if lescott gets one, even though he deserves one

Watch the man's foot. Take off the City blinkers and watch the man's foot! He clearly makes a stamping movement - it is completely unmistakeable. Whether you support a club or not, when one of its players conducts himself in such a way, you should not defend him. Catch me defending Rooney when he kicked that guy to earn his Euro ban? No.

Can't remember if it was the Kaboul incident, but I'm pretty sure Spurs should've had a penalty at some point as well. You must be absolutely gutted not to get anything out of that game. For me, you were the better team. And yes, you are playing some nice stuff this season!

Kaboul got elbowed in the face by Lescott. Yeah, possible penalty as well.

Ever since the Stoke game where we got royally Foyed in the behind, things have been consistently going against us. It's remarkable we've picked up any points at all. 3 goals incorectly ruled out for offside, 3 different players not sent off when they should have been. Goal conceded from a corner that wasn't a corner. The list goes on. Few good penalty shouts all turned down.

Yet, there's no massive two page spead on the back pages saying how Ref's 'hate us' or 'need to be braver' etc that attempts to subtelty get the ref making 50-50 decisions your way like Ferguson, Mancini etc... There's no swarm of 10 Spurs players including the keeper who has run 100 yards to scream at the ref so subconciously he's finding a way to even up his decision. Spurs have just got on with it, and it may well be that naiveity that is the difference between winning a league and finishing 3rd this season. Personally, if it is, I'd rather we finish 3rd.

End of the day though, as much as things can go against you it is easy to blame others. If Defoe hadn't inexplicably slowed down when there was only one place Bale's cross was going. Or even had Benny just taken his time when he got the ball at left-back under no pressure with 30 seconds to go, instead of hoofing it straight back to Man City for them to have one more attack. Spurs had moments to make the decisons irrelevant, and those moments were passed.

It was disgusting stuff from Balotelli.

Anyways I really have a liking for Spurs, they have been hard done by the refs recently, but I really didnt expect them to challenge for the title come May. The key is next season, if Harry leaves for the England job, it will be a massive step backwards for the Spurs. They have to make sure they hold on to their key players as well such as Modric and Adebayor.

he went down with cramp like 3 minutes earlier. easily explained.

You're on 60,000 a week you run that extra yard. He got it wrong positionally. He slowed his run before he should have done considering Lescott had done well to force Bale to go round the outside. If Defoe was able to fling himself at the ball, he was able to attack the space the ball was almost definitely going to be played across. He got up perfectly fine from the stretch as well, so no, I'm afraid it is not easily explained.

Balotelli has now been charged, but Lescott escapes punishment. Interesting that some people have said Lescotts was worse. Still, none of this helps Spurs now.

That reminds me of Gazza's attempt to score at Euro 96 - had he just thrown himself at the ball maybe he would've scored. Might have taken the keeper out as well, but that happens in football. Almost a carbon copy of what happened with Defoe! And yes, as soon as the ball was just hoofed straight back to City, I was very worried for the outcome.

So - a four match ban for Balotelli. Good - at least the officials got that part right. But as you said, none of that helps Spurs - or by extension, Utd. All things being right, we should now be only one point behind them and you should be two points closer to us!! I would like to see Spurs do well - unlike a certain Blue Plastic lot, they weren't handed their current position on a silver platter. ;)

Similar to the de Jong tackle on Ben Arfa last season. It was a good tackle, but he ref stopped play due to the injury which happened, but the FA couldn't do anything as the ref had seen it and deemed it not a foul.

You kidding me Karl? It was a terrible tackle, bad enough for De Jong to get booted out of the Netherlands set up for a while. In no way, can that attack (cause that is what it was) be described as a "good tackle"

the outcome of the tackle was terrible, but it was a fair challenge, one footed, on the floor, it was just really really unlucky the way his leg got caught in between De Jongs.
It was the same when Ramsey broke his leg, Shawcross got sent off, but it was so harsh on him, it was a fair challenge, but in contact sports these things happen.

I remember David Busst years ago, terrible horrible career ending injury from the Denis Irwin challenge, but Irwin was not too blame for it.

The outcome of a tackle doesn?t determine if it was a fair challenge or not.

But obviously if its a city player then hes scum, should get banned for life and publicly hung.

After every game we win its because we?ve cheated or been lucky and should of had 3 or 4 players sent off in every game.

Yet when players like Glen Johnson do tackles like in the first leg of the carling cup semi final, well that tackle is just find and dandy, the FA don?t think that it was dangerous and he doesn?t get a ban.

Wayne Rooney can kick people in an England shirt and the FA appeal claiming its not a red, but if it involves a city player its a 4 match ban.

Double standards being consistently shown by the biased pathetic organisation that is the FA

Are you comparing a player going for the ball to one deliberately stamping on a player off the ball?? Or one clearly elbowing a fellow professional? You're lucky that City didn't get two players banned instead of one. And stop the siege mentality nonsense, eh? Everyone who knows football knows that City have been playing some brilliant stuff this season and sweeping many teams aside - us included - not because of bad decsions, but because of great football. The fact is with the Spurs game, City should not have won because the guy who won and scored the penalty shouldn't even have been on the pitch; City should've been down to ten men at least.

As for Rooney, it was a clear red card. The only reason the FA are going in to bat for him is they know how important he is for England.

I'm Comparing Kompany getting a 4 match ban and having his appeal turned down as it was two footed, but the FA saying Johnsons two footed tackle 4 days later was totally fine.

The FA are a total joke, the city player gets banned, the Liverpool one doesn't.

It was 4 days apart, in the same stadium, even the most inconsistent of morons at the FA should be able to get those decisions the same. No one is so idiotic to think those two tackles don't deserve the same outcome.

There are far too many unusual decisions from the FA, and I have absolutely no faith that they are fair and honest in football matters.

Oooh, Palace v Cardiff is set for a riveting encounter. Gardner, hero for Palace in the first leg has turned Villain in the second. Who will go to the final? Can Cardiff take another league cup final heartbreak?
