Useless. He can't do anything right.

Are you kidding me?

Might as well have spend a bit under 35 m on a coach to get N'gog to play well. Would've been almost as difficult and almost as expensive as Carroll, but better for all parties in the end.

Carroll still has to grow though. Wait a few seasons before you judge him fully. A senior striker should really be brought in to be his mentor and play in the 1st XI while Carroll grows coming on as an impact sub and starting the odd game. Would be best, but still no way it'll pay off 35 m.

I'm not so sure about him growing into a good player for liverpool, it may seem ridiculous to make a sweeping statement about his potential when he's still pretty young, but once you get that tarred the way he has it can be very difficult to bounce back.

players like forlan, saha, shevchenko, crespo all went through similar bad phases and while in some cases they did recover some form, they never shook the failure label they aquired in their first year. time is running out for carroll (and torres) to do that.

"lately they've rounded on Gillette, Hicks, Dalgish, Benitez, Hodgson and Carroll

Never walk alone my arse. "

and to that last i could easily add another 4-5 players if not more

They are imploding a bit but they've not been in this position before and it'll make them stronger for next season.

I don't ever remember Utd turning on each other, not even when we hadn't won it for 26 years. As for making them stronger for next season, I actually think it'll demoralise them. They've spent all this money, and have played so well - yet they still couldn't get the job done (all that's assuming they don't win it this year, but I really can't see it. The only way they'll win is if Utd stage their biggest implosion job since I've watched them.)

Tonight is a vital match - if we can come out of this one with a win, then I reckon it's game over for City. And we can start singing the 'You're gonna win F.A.' all song - the one that uses 'Blue Moon' as its tune, ironically. :D :D :D

Balotelli for me is a liability - if he wants a lasting career in football, he needs to sort his head out and quick.

City's owners have spent God knows how much over the past two seasons and right now, it looks like their only success is an extremely jammy FA Cup win (going back to that unbelievable Berbatov miss in the Semi-Final). And that's not good enough, so we know what'll happen. They'll sack the manager and bring in another load of players - who will need time to bed in all over again. And as we all know, sacking the manager every five minutes is not the way to long-term success - just ask Utd and to a lesser extent, Arsenal.

Mancini deserves to be sacked if United end up winning the Premier League, which will look very likely if they beat Blackburn tonight. For all the millions and billions that he has spent to build the squad, City have gone from 5 points clear at the top to potentially trailing 5 behind United. Just pathetic!

If someone like Fergie or Mourinho had been in charge of this City squad, they would have been miles ahead in the Premier League right and would certainly have done better in the cup competitions.

Think people need to stop putting Carroll and Torres in the same bracket. Those two have obviously gone in different directions lately.

I think if (when) City fail to win the title Mancini will go and Jose will come in...

If so, then I'd like to hope that his management of them would be as comic as his spell at Chelsea :p...

Lancashire Derby currently deadlocked atm. I'd have thought Man U would want to make the most of their game in hand over the Sky Blues... Following the tradition of previous encounters against Blackburn...

Ooooh, clean strike by Valencia beats Robinson at the far post from the edge of the box . Back into the side the at first opportunity and back with a goal. Unlucky Blackburn...

In August I predicted on Twitter that Man United would win the Premier League, Leicester would win the Championship, Sheffield United would win League 1 and Swindon would win League 2. So I haven't done too badly.

Typical, gritty performance from the lads tonight - it took a long time, Blackburn were very well organised but we got the goal(s) in the end. Nice goals, too and the G/D deficit is now down to only one. City appear to have burned themselves out, bless them. While Utd have never really looked on fire this season, we've kept pace with City mostly, apart from a couple of blips.

Good job that linesman was on it and rightly disallowed Blackburn's 'goal' - you never know how it might have turned out otherwise.

Might put a few quid on Arsenal to beat City on Sunday, especially if we take care of QPR as that'll put us a massive eight points clear. :)

Jose Mourinho comic at Chelsea? Not sure what alternative universe you were watching football in, but in this one he was massively successful at Chelsea! I'll say one thing though: if he wants the Utd job one day, he better forget about managing City - especially, as I think he will be, he's successful there.

I dont think Mourinho will go to City - his long term plans are to manage United at one point, and managing City will surely hinder that dream.

Plus I also dont see Mancini fired. City ownership should definitely see the Chelsea precedent.

Which was to hire someone who was fine for stage one, and then replace them with someone better suited to the longer project? Ranieri - Mourinho.

Villas-Boas to City... Just to try and piss off Chelsea ha
