Yes - the difference is Everton were a clear threat for the whole game. Yes, we were two goals clear, but it was them that took the lead. That game was going 'you attack, we attack' - when that's happening, you need to shut the game out. Even when they closed to within one goal, we were still going for goals! Two goals clear I can understand it - but they had closed to one goal! That was a clear message to sit on the damn game - park the bus; I couldn't care less if it was at Old Trafford. I mean today's game against Sunderland was another example - we were all over them, made loads of chances, but missed too many. City were more ruthless in front of goal that's for sure. That's why they deserved to win the league. Sure, they played some amazing football in the first part of the season, but then they had a massive blip during which they blew a big lead. Unfortunately for us, we repaid the favour by blowing our own big lead in two weeks. Then after we opened the door for them by losing against Wigan, they booted it off its hinges with a 4-0 and a 6-1. See, if they'd just grinded out a win in those games, the goal difference would either be even (where would that have left us, head to head?) or plus one or two in our favour.

Look, I'm just repeating what I've heard from the various football commentators - that Utd needed to be more ruthless. Just happens that I agree with them.

Still, it's over now. Just like 1995, but worse - because we were that much closer to winning. But without a doubt the most amazing, stomach churning, twist filled title race I've ever experienced - and that's without talking about the final day, which was a microcosm of the whole race in one day.

And we've still got the England rollercoaster ride to come.

You were pretty close in 95. IIRC only Andy Cole's dreadful finishing against West Ham denied you.

Ha ha ha - Sir Alex's two worst team selections:

Not playing Valencia and Young vs City this season and playing Cole instead of Mark Hughes vs West Ham in '95. Andy Cole's finishing that day was nowhere. West Ham had an annoying habit of tripping us up in those days, so Upton Park on the last day was an extremely tough place to go.

The footballing God is a sadistic sod, isn't he? I'm sure it was great fun for the neutrals, but both Utd and City fans were really put through the wringer today.

I remember watching that one on a split screen which seemed pretty revolutionary at the time. Hard to focus on either game though as a result.

Just watching some highlights now - Tevez was actually a very lucky boy - he had a nibble at Barton; not to condone what Barton did in return, and what he did afterwards, but I think Tevez was lucky to stay on the pitch.

Ugh... I feel sick.

I was wondering where the five minutes of stoppages came from for City - during the highlights, the commentator said it was from the Joey Barton situation. So without that, it probably would've been one or two minutes, which of course wouldn't have been enough.

Joey Barton. You MORON! :mad :mad

Sky Sports also saying we have to make some marquee signings. Yep - they cost money. Lots of money and thanks to the Gormless Ones, we haven't got enough.

Another thought that was drifting through my mind: QPR went to Man City and scored two goals - QPR the team with the worst away record in the country. When we went to City, we didn't even get a single shot on target - and we had either the best, or one of the best, away records. I'll never understand football.

Jump high, jump low jump over the moon, that will not change the fact that Man U are second best for the season 2011/12. And as for buying talent City have much deeper pockets than Man U will ever have so the number 2 spot might be Man U own for a very long time:D

Yeah, about that deep pockets thing, I wouldn't guarantee it. People are sniffing round Man Utd all the time - hopefully one of them will soon take us over and get rid of these Glazer deadweights. Also, remember the financial 'Fair Play' rules. City won't be able to spend as freely - but then again, they don't have to. Who do City need to buy? I wouldn't touch that squad myself.

And just to reiterate, Chelsea also grew massively deep pockets, but the number two spot wasn't ours for too long and when we took the trophy back, we kept it for three seasons on the spin, only to be denied a record fourth by one or two points. City aren't going away - but neither are Utd - Sir Alex has said there will be signings and he's usually quiet about that sort of thing; a midfield ball winner and a midfield playmaker is what we need. Then there are Chelsea, who will probably have the real Fernando Torres next year, along with some other signings - like City, they can throw money around. Arsenal will be strong, as will Spurs.

For now though, as Sky Sports said, everyone needs a rest: players, managers, referees and of course, fans. Enjoy it, City fans - those of you who have waited a long time. Wonder how many of the 'newcomers' used to own Utd shirts...

I've learned some things today:

1. The Premier League is by far the most exciting league in world. Bar none.
2. City are the best team in the league, not giving up, showing real style and grinding out a result in stoppage time. True champions.
3. Nasri is a prick. Still talking about leaving Arsenal, seriously, get over it mate, you play for City now.
4. This forum is full of Man Utd fans who cannot accept defeat or that United aren't perfect, and hence make mistakes all the time. And one reason I'm sure you're certain you'll win the league next season - you'll invest heavily in the team again, obviously.

Anyway, I hope next season can be just as brilliant as this:cheers.

Saw the last minutes of the game again,I gotta appreciate City,I've never seen so much commitment, not even in el classico,I am not against the play of city,I'm just against the way they approach players and buy loads of them, but in the end they deserved to win the title.
PS:Neither am I a city fan nor a united fan.

Of course Blackburn bought the title that season ;)
No team will ever win the premiership again without buying it.

I would be against it if every single other team in the league didn't do it too. The fact is, almost all the top clubs spend huge amounts.

Oh and Stewart Downing this season in the Premiership:

0 goals, 0 assists, a penalty miss - cost 20m. Bargains don't come any better than this. :)
