We're short of numbers anyway because of those going to the Olympics. It might give him a chance to put himself in the shop window for a loan or permanent transfer, same as Berbatov.

King retires.

Knew it would happen soon, but not this soon. Shows the confidence he and the club have in Vertonghen.

Could have easily been England's #1 center back, had it not been for his injuries. Thierry Henry's toughest opponent yet in the Prem, going by his wiki profile.

Good decision for King to retire before AVB fully implement his high defensive line at Spurs. :p

:( Good bye Ledders. You were the most talented centre back of your generation, let down by having rubbish knees :cheers

Or it just shows his knees are shot to pieces that's why. :facepalm

They've been shot to pieces for years. Clearly he probably could have and should have retired a long time ago if the only reason behind his retirement is his knees.

I knew he'd come good. He's clearly the next Ronaldo. Watch this space.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger unsure over Jack Wilshere return - ESPN Soccernet

Wow, are you kidding me? Looks like another poor start to the season. Wilshere out for the start of the season, could miss half the season yet again. Frimpong out for a similar period. Rosicky also unavailable for the start of the season. Sagna unavailable too for a few games.

An AM is really needed, otherwise for what could be 5+ games, we'll have Ramsey as first choice with Diaby as backup... Cazorla please. Also an RB. Would love Bosingwa here, would be the perfect back-up RB.

Not really, he has been on the verge for the last few seasons. It was always going to be case of getting too much for him and the end of last season it began to.

He is an attacking full back a lot like Andre Santos who is happy to not start every week. Plus he started the UCL final, clearly he can be relied upon from time to time.

I'd take him in a heartbeat to act as back up on a two year contract, far better than Jenkinson, at least at this stage. Perfect except for slightly high wages.

Plus, Arsenal relies on attacking full backs. Chelsea does not. He'd do far better at Arsenal.
