Your Cricket Fast Bowling Thread

Sibazz: Firstly, bowl Left arm pace, not right :p
Secondly, use your legbreak as a legcutter, and work on bowling inswing (Or outswing to a righty)
Thirdly, lose some weight (:p)
Fourth, as my sir says, High arm action: Walk, jog, run, leap, straight arm(non-bowling), high knee(Left knee if righty, and vice versa), and quick arm action.
That's about it. And one more thing, since you can bowl spin and can fall back on that and your batting if needed, speed is everything.
:)

Hold the ball seam up instead of like a chinaman holds it. :p

Yer, i think i got that from watching the other lads Matt :p When i got to about the age of 13, i used to question why the other lads had a bigger run up and held the ball the "wrong" way.

Nah, seriously, i do know how to bowl seam, as i somtimes take on a bit of Left Arm Medium. :D Im a spinner, so i dont know much more than a run up of 4 steps hehe!

Cheeky Little ........

Yer, i am a spinner, but that does not mean i need to lost wieght :p i went through all that months ago, hated losing wieght but now i can bowl my quicker ball quicker.

As a Spinner, and a very easily bored one at that, i usually try to put a run up to my spin during the nets, and the fact im running up scares the crap out of my coach, i dont think he has seen me move more than 4 steps :p Anyways, useful tips Zorax, and the whole list of how to bowl, well, id never remember it, all i do is run, skip, and turn my arm over, its simple, and i nearly always get it offstump or just outside ;)

But i fully admit, i do stray down leg atleast once every couple of overs, and i usually accidently put a full toss in, which is efficiantly dispatched to the boundry, by the opposing batsmen :)

Why are you going on about your spinning techinque? No offense, but there is a thread for that and this one isn't it.

Not once have i mentioned about my Spinning technique :D

Well that ruined a perfectly good session didn't it.

Maybe we should discuss yorkers now. :)

I only bowl yorkers with spin :) I do bowl them while bowling pace, but only accidently when attempting to pitch the ball up :p
Haven't really developed any variations. Still working on line, length, swing and pace.

Well I like to bowl at least one yorker per over as it keeps the batsmen guessing and I only hold the ball with my index finger which improves my accuracy. Don't ask me how, but my one finger grip tends to work better and i'd say about 80% of my yorkers are on target. There's nothing better for me than to uproot a stump (or two :p) when firing in a brutal toecrusher. :)

Well you have pace, you can bowl them. For me, by the time it reaches them they have charged down and hit it for 6 :p
Nah, never really tried. Really just have bowled to kids my age and younger, so haven't relly been tested to see how effective it is. The one time I did bowl it I knocked all the stumps over (Plastic ones...)

Big yorker fan personally, one of my greatest cricketing achievemnts was removing the middle stump from a first team player who has also played minor county level with Staffordshire. It started a foot outside off stump, swung in and he couldnt react quickly enough. :D

Bowling leg-stump yorkers is a bit trickier for me, i've done it a few times but I much prefer aiming for off or middle stump. Less chance of bowling a wide that way.

When batting, im usually quite good with swinging balls coming at me, but when its a swinging yorker its a whole differnt thing, i jus usually put my bat down and hope for the best, its the main weakness of my game, i can block them, but sometimes i lack the ability to guess where the little red thing is gunna go

any of you every play against me now lol, ya'll know my weakness!

This isn't a batting thread Simon! It's a fast bowling thread.

But still, next time your in St.Helens i'm gonna tear your legstump out of the ground. :p

lol, ill wait for the challange, yes i am aware it isnt the batting thread, but i thought it was relevent to the topic!

anyways, in the league i play in, there is only a person on every team( maybe two) who can proberly bowl a bouncer, which is kind of funny to bat against as when a bowler bowls a long hop, its the easiest kind of six to hit :p i like a challange, although i have been embarresed once or twice getting out to it

Why is it that bouncers r so hard to bowl, or seem it from the batting end

I aim my bouncers for the helmet; I don't get hooked too often. It might sound nasty but it's my job.
