FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Won my first three games!

The win against Liverpool which you know about, a 3-0 away win at Reading followed, and a slightly fortuitous 1-0 home win against Sunderland. Second in the table, it surely won't last but i'm really happy with my new signings.

Btw, I was a bit premature when I said i'd signed Giles Barnes. Turns out 20,000 a week wasn't good enough for the cheeky bitch so I signed Michael Kitely instead.

Fantastic win Matt, I'd prefer the blue half of Scouserside to beat the red half any day of the week! Funnily enough, I've got a strange feeling you'll win in reality this weekend as well. Cheers for the tip on Chester and Accrington, I'll probably give one of them a go, starting tomorrow.

They're a bit unhappy, Bolton masterminded a 89th minute winner, 3-2.

If I were you i'd swap N'Zogbia and Pedersen around.

I may try that but i'd rather have Pedersen out there on the wide, and N'Zogbia inside, i mean, stats wise, Pedersen is better, but ill try it.

when you guys watch the game on fm, do you set commentary to fast?

Anyone buy the game from the store, Game ? I'm considering taking some games in to trade in for it today. I am gonna trade in SpiderMan 3 (PS3), King of Fighters (PS2), and that's pretty much all i have to trade in, unless Game take PC game trade-in's now. If not i'm fairly buggered, unless my Mum'll put something towards it :p. I really want it though, the demo is awesome.

edit: Just started a demo game as Everton, first player i looked to buy, Michael Owen, made 1 bid, was accepted (£11million), made 1 contract offer (less than what he was asking for) and he accepted. Why are you having such problems signing players Matthew ? :p

Yup fastest it goes, its still pretty easy to read, and i also have it on split view, left hand side i have Newcastle Rating and on the right i have league table (OR in the cups i have statistics).

I'm off playing some more, stupid college getting in the way, :happy week off now :D So plenty of FM action.

If I were you I wouldn't play 4-4-2. If this version is anything like the previous versions you need to come up with stupid formations that just wouldn't work in reality, you'll do ok with 4-4-2 but it's not the key to success.

Cheers Rob, sorry it took me so long to respond, i'll try it. :D

Yeah 4-4-2 in this game is about as effective as permeable condom.

Always be inventive, I play 4-1-2-1-2 a lot as well.

Just got the game :D. Gonna start with a nice easy club to get me into the game, it's my way of playing FM when i first get it. Probably gonna start with Real Madrid, but Inter and Chelsea are options aswell, need lots of money and a decent base squad :p. I'll start a game as the Toffees once i get used to the game and know some decent players.

Seen this on another forum and thought it would be a good idea to try out. Do it on any FM version ya like:

"The San Marino national football team represents the small country of San Marino. They are a team that has achieved little success. In fact they have only won one match in their entire history, a 1-0 win over Liechenstein. It goes without saying that they have never qualified for a EURO Cup or a World Cup. But the San Marino Football Federation is in search of success. So they have called on you to put San Marino on the International stage. Can you have a succesful qualifying campaign? Can you qualify for the world cup? Could you do the unthinkable, and win a world cup with San Marino? That is up to you and your managerial ability. The time is now.

Ok, so start a new game and select Italy, Serie A and above, and the United States. Then pick the start of the game as USA time, this is so you'll have more qualifying matches instead of starting in July 2006/7 you'll start in January 2006/7. Also load all players from San Marino. Manager details are not important and San Marino should be in the list of nations to manage if it is not for you tell me."

1. No cheat tactics/training
2. No editing any nations or players using editor
